Mondays with the Mayor


On this week’s “Mondays with the Mayor” Mayor Laura Weinberg was joined by Affordable Housing Policy Coordinator, Lauren McKinney, to discuss the rental registry listening session this week (Thursday, May 9, 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center) and the healthy housing initiative for the city. They touch on the lead service line potholing efforts, community outreach, and the Healthy Housing initiative as a whole. Learn more on the City's Healthy Housing page.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Fees


Starting Monday, fees apply at eight City-owned electric vehicle charging stations. Users will be charged 24 cents per kilowatt hour for the first three hours with fees increasing after that time for idling. Fees will offset the City's costs for electricity, maintenance and repair and are in addition to any parking fees that may be required.

Caffeine and connection at this community event! There will be two presentations, an audience Q&A, and local entrepreneurs sharing ideas. This event features Noah Whittman from Priviom and Lisa Morey from Colorado Earth LLC.

Yard waste as bundled sticks and in collection bags

Spring Yard Waste Collection May 6-10, 7 a.m.


Curbside yard waste collection dates for Pay as You Throw (PAYT) program customers will occur on your normal service day during the week of May 6-10 by 7 a.m.. For more details, please see our guidelines for collection.


Material may be placed in your organics cart, or in certified compostable bags available for purchase at any home improvement store. Yard Waste for this collection is limited to grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, weeds, branches, sawdust, ground or chipped wood.


Note: Please do not use anything to bundle branches (not even twine!). Pile the branches as neatly as possible to make it easier for our drivers to pick up. The compost facility where collected yard waste materials are sent no longer accept any organic material that is not either yard or food waste.

State of the City Address

Tonight, May 8, 5-7 p.m. at the Golden Community Center


The City of Golden and the Golden Chamber of Commerce invite the public to attend the 2024 State of the City address. Join Mayor Laura Weinberg and Nola Krajewski, President of the Golden Chamber of Commerce, for this important community address which will include presentations celebrating the City of Golden’s successes in 2023 and goals for 2024.

Rental Registry Listening Session

May 9,11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center


The City is hosting its final listening session Thursday, May 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center to provide information and gather feedback around the possibility of introducing a rental registry to Golden.


The purpose of a rental registry could be to create and maintain a comprehensive list of long-term rental properties and relevant contact information of landlords, tenants, and property managers.

Natural Grocers Community Garden Workdays!

The Natural Grocers Community Garden in Golden would like to invite you to two workdays as we prepare the garden for the season. We will be weeding, moving compost, and working on other assorted projects followed by a casual garden meet-and-greet!

Road and Construction Updates

Right of Way Closures


  • Ford Street - Ford Street will be closed from 7th Street to 10th Street beginning May 13 and ending May 17. The road will be fully closed from May 13 to May 15 followed by a sidewalk and one lane closure for the rest of the work.


  • East Street - 16th to 19th Street: Xcel Energy's electric work on East Street, 16th to 19th Street, continues until May 31. Work will occur weekdays, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., expect traffic, parking, and sidewalk closures.


  • Colorado School of Mines: CSM campus has various closures. Check ROW permitting map below for details.
