Peaks-to-Plains Trail Public Meeting

Monday, June 3, 5:30-7:00 p.m. in City Hall (911 10th St.)

The Clear Creek Trail through Downtown Golden has become increasingly popular in recent years. The regional Peaks-to-Plains (P2P) Trail connecting Idaho Springs to Denver will be a major part of this popularity, especially with Jefferson County Open Space securing funding for the remaining unbuilt trail. This popularity also brings challenges to the existing Clear Creek Trail which wants to better accommodate tubers, cyclists, pedestrians, residents, and visitors at peak times. This project will conduct an alternatives analysis and engage with the Golden community to determine the best route for a 'secondary route' of the P2P Trail through Downtown Golden.

The City is hosting the first public meeting on this project on June 3 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. in City Hall (911 10th Street) to listen to the community to help develop the alternatives. Learn more about the project and upcoming public engagement opportunities on the Guiding Golden page.

This program offers a unique opportunity to learn about the duties of police officers and law enforcement employees, as well as the rules, directives, and laws they follow. Rimrock & Cressman Gulch Vegetation Management

Through this week, the City will have a specialty contractor conducting vegetation management in and along some of our channels, specifically in the Rimrock and Cressman Gulch areas.

The goal is to maintain conveyance capacity in our channels and remove debris and vegetation that could be fuel in the event of a wildfire using a specialty excavator called a Menzi Muck! Its unique design allows it to operate in difficult steep terrains where traditional machinery cannot work, making it ideal for maintaining our city’s natural waterways without causing significant disruption.

For any questions or concerns, please contact Joseph Lammers with the Public Works Department at jlammers@cityofgolden.net
