Golden's New Parking Program Has Officially Rolled Out!


The new Parking Management Program officially begins today with Interstate Parking! Information can be found at ParkGoldenCO.com including permit signups, regulations, available parking, and complaint adjudication. 


Updates & Additional Info:


  • Starting May 3, the Golden Community Center Lot will be permit-parking only Friday through Sunday. Members should connect with the front desk upon arrival or have set up the Golden Resident Permit. City staff and Interstate Parking will be at the Golden Community Center on May 3 from 9 a.m. - noon to help register and navigate the new parking system. 


  • All City of Golden residents are now eligible to register for the Golden Resident permit which pre-registers you for the free two-hour parking areas in downtown garages, surface lots and on-street block, and the 10th Street corridor. This City resident-only permit is in addition to a neighborhood parking permit and cannot be used in neighborhood parking permit zones. You can register for the new Golden Resident permit at ParkGoldenCO.com


  • Parking payments can be made through the Interstate parking kiosks, by using the QR code on parking signs, or by visiting ParkGoldenCO.com

The Waste of Water Ordinance Has Begun Implementation


Golden, along with the rest of Colorado, is vulnerable to climate change, aridification, and drought conditions that may adversely impact our water supply.


The Waste of Water Ordinance, adopted by City Council in April 2023, outlines ways residents and businesses can prevent wasting water and lists allowable and prohibited outdoor uses.


Enforcement of the new rules begin today, May 1, and includes financial penalties for violations.

Golden Downtown Welcome Arch Painting and Resurfacing


The beloved Welcome Arch is getting a shiny new coat of paint and vinyl. Please note that to complete this work, Washington Avenue will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and signs for the duration of the project. This is expected to begin Monday, May 6, and last through Thursday, May 9.

Spring Yard Waste Collection May 6-10


Curbside yard waste collection dates for Pay as You Throw (PAYT) program customers will occur on your normal service day during the week of May 6-10. For more details, please see our guidelines for collection.


Yard Waste is collected by a separate truck on your designated trash collection day and should be placed near where your trash is collected by 7 a.m.


Material may be placed in your organics cart, or in certified compostable bags available for purchase at any home improvement store. Yard Waste for this collection is limited to grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, weeds, branches, sawdust, ground or chipped wood.

State of the City Address

Rental Registry Listening Session

May 9,11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center


The City is hosting a listening session Thursday, May 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Golden Community Center to provide information and gather feedback around the possibility of introducing a rental registry to Golden.


The purpose of a rental registry could be to create and maintain a comprehensive list of long-term rental properties and relevant contact information of landlords, tenants, and property managers.

Road and Construction Updates

Closures on Washington Ave.


Construction will continue on Washington Avenue for domestic water service and fire line installation as part of a private development project through May 3. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.


Expect lane closures with flaggers on Washington Avenue between 11th Street & 12th Street. Parking will be unavailable in this area to accommodate one-way traffic. 


Businesses on the west side of Washington Avenue will remain accessible. Please follow signage and stay safe during this construction period. 

19th Snow Event of the Season


In the early morning of Saturday, April 20, a late winter storm deposited between 6.5 to 7 inches of snow across Golden within a span of 4 to 5 hours. Crews were mobilized shortly after midnight and diligently worked through the night. Their efforts primarily focused on plowing or sanding a distance of 425 miles, dispersing 6 tons of de-icing material, resulting in an average application rate of 28.23 lbs. per lane mile.
