Clear Creek Flag Status Moved to Red

​Red flag status means that Clear Creek is closed for swimming and tubing. Only experienced kayakers and other vessels should be on the creek. Users should wear protective gear and be able to rescue themselves in the water. High caution should be used in the water.

Golden StArt

Thursday, June 6, 3-5 p.m. at 809 15th Street

Golden StArt is a joint one-hour coffee meetup program designed to bring artists in the area and the Golden community to meet and discuss art. Come and join us for drinks and apps with featured artist, Karin Soderholm.

Triangle Park Pop-up Event

Wednesday, June 12, 4-6 p.m. at the intersection of South Golden Road & East Street

The City of Golden would like your feedback on a new design for Triangle Park located at the intersection of South Golden Rd and East Street on June 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Funds from a Colorado Water Conservation Board’s Turf Replacement program grant will be used to redesign the park to reduce water waste and beautify the park!

Students, families, neighbors: stop by to learn more and give your insight! Please come join us at the event to participate in a design survey or check out Guiding Golden on event day to participate online.

Public Historic District Walking Tour

Wednesday, June 12, 1-4:30 p.m. at the corner of 10th Street & Illinois Street

Join City staff as we kick off the City’s Historic Preservation Policy and Engagement Study with a tour of three historic districts with the Historic Preservation Board and the City’s consultant, Logan Simpson. Later that evening, the Board will receive a formal introduction to the Historic Preservation Policy and Engagement Study and the consultant at their scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m.

  • 1-2 p.m., 12th Street District (meet at 12th St and Arapahoe Street)

  • 2:15-3:15 p.m., 8th and 9th Street District (meet at the corner of 9th Street and Arapahoe Street)

  • 3:30-4:30 p.m., East Street District (meet at the corner of East St and 17th Street )

Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Open House

Tuesday, June 18, 5:30-7 p.m. at 1950 Ford Street

The Planning Department, in collaboration with Public Works, is proposing several bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements along the Ford Street and Jackson Street corridors between 14th Street and 24th Street.

The main purpose of this open house is for city staff to hear public feedback on the proposed 15% Design. Public feedback will be incorporated as the project moves through the design process. The city is currently working on developing the design plans for this project and is in the process of pursuing construction funding.

Scandinavian Midsummer Festival Comes to Golden!

June 14-16, at Parfet Park

Golden is the new home of the Scandinavian Midsummer Festival! Be inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Scandinavia. There will be over 80 artisans, organizations, and performers sharing their cultural heritage through food, crafts, demonstrations, and entertainment.

Right of Way Closures

  • Ford Street - Ford Street will be closed from 7th Street to 10th Street for the rest of today, June 5. There will be two traffic lane closures and one sidewalk closure.

  • Colorado School of Mines: CSM campus has various closures. Check ROW permitting map below for details.

Concrete Replacement Program

The City’s Annual Concrete Replacement Program began this week. They are replacing damaged or deficient concrete as well as ADA upgrades. Notice will be provided to residents no less than 24 hours in advance of work. Please contact John Hardy at if you have any questions.  

Work will begin on the following streets:

  • Meadow Run Drive
  • Creekside Court
  • Parkview Court

Rimrock & Cressman Gulch Vegetation Management

Through this week, the City will have a specialty contractor conducting vegetation management in and along some of our channels, specifically in the Rimrock and Cressman Gulch areas. 

The goal is to maintain conveyance capacity in our channels and remove debris and vegetation that could be fuel in the event of a wildfire using a specialty excavator called a Menzi Muck! Its unique design allows it to operate in difficult steep terrains where traditional machinery cannot work, making it ideal for maintaining our city’s natural waterways without causing significant disruption.
