Police Increasing Enforcement of Illegal Exhaust Systems
Residents in Golden have requested that the Golden Police Department expand on their enforcement of illegal vehicle exhaust systems, specifically vehicles that frequently drive through the downtown area, Lookout Mountain Road, Highway 58 and 93. These areas draw a large number of visitors, particularly on weekends, which include loud cars and motorcycles.
Neighbors tell us they are no longer able to enjoy the peace and serenity of their backyards or decks due to the sheer number of loud vehicles driving in the area at all hours of the day and night. Even while inside with their windows closed, houses closer to the roadways still hear the reverberation of louder engines as they drive by.

Speaking of noise, a week from today we celebrate Independence Day in true Golden style, with a festival in Lions Park put on by the Lions Club, and fireworks that night (weather permitting, of course). We'd also like to remind everyone that City of Golden administrative offices will be closed on July 4. Linking Lookout (US 6 & 19th St. Interchange)
Changes continue. We now have reopened the eastbound ramp from US 6 to 19th Street. Traffic on the west side of 6th Ave is now mostly in its final configuration. Remember that traffic coming up 19th to the eastbound US 6 ramp does not stop, they have the through-motion. When you approach downhill from the west on 19th you have to stop, and cross the through -motion only when there is a safe gap.
Pedestrians now need to use the new sidewalk from Parfet Estates drive to the center of the lid, then the temporary asphalt connection to the marked pedestrian area along the roadway.
Most of the grading is complete for the westbound lane of 19th and the sidewalk from Elm to the Westbound US 6 on-ramp. Water line extension to tie-in to the line coming across the lid starting about halfway to Elm is underway. Final connection to the line over the lid will occur when the westbound on-ramp is closed. Sidewalk, curb and gutter on the north side will begin after the waterline is completed.
There is landscape and irrigation work beginning on the lid, and periodic work in other areas so please pay attention when you when you drive, walk or ride through the area.
Irrigation and lighting work continues on the lid, as well as lighting under the bridge.
The ramp from 19th Street to westbound US 6 will be closed for two weeks to complete water line tie-in, and grading. The closure is currently planned to begin July 10.
There is a construction viewing area in the northwest corner that can be accessed from Parfet Estates Drive, and is an excellent location to view ongoing work. Please park legally.

Martin Marietta has begun full reconstruct paving operations on Arapahoe St. from 2nd St. to the dead-end. Work should be completed up the end of the week.

2017 Concrete Replacement
Fasick is replacing concrete in various locations citywide. The largest impacts being the Southridge and Heritage Dells neighborhoods.

Ford Street Storm Sewer
Work has begun on Ford St. from 24th to 14th streets to replace deficient inlets and pipe in advance of paving operations. Work is expected to take approximately 2 weeks, with alternating lane closures.

2017 Utility Replacement
Water main replacement will be on hold for several weeks as the contractor fulfills other obligations.

Water Meter Replacement project
Replacements and upgrades continue citywide. There are approximately 96 meters left, most of which need residents to make appointments to schedule the change.

Golden Bike Cruise - King Arthur's Court!
Pump up your tires and polish Excalibur, the Golden Bike Cruise is heading out to slay some dragons and rescue some damsels (or be rescued by damsels?!) The theme of the Golden Bike Cruise this month is King Arthur's Court, happening tonight, June 27.
For those unfamiliar with the event, the cruise takes place on the last Tuesday of the month, from May through September, and starts in the parking lot next to the Golden Library. The cruise has grown over the years and the addition of beer, food and live music have made the event a definite favorite with locals.
Sponsored by the Golden Community Commons, the event starts at 6 p.m. with live music this month from
Sun Time Hannah, local brews from New Terrain Brewery and food provided by Bob's Atomic Burgers. Bring canned goods for a chance to win prizes and giveaways. Each month has a different theme - and it's all about King Arthur's Court this month (costumes encouraged)! At 7 p.m. the bicycle cruise departs, looping through parks and neighborhoods on the bike trails.

Colorado Bike to Work Day
Leave your keys at home and don't spend a cent to fill up the gas tank. Wednesday,
June 28 is Colorado Bike to Work Day and local residents are encouraged to bike or walk to work.
The City of Golden is supporting the statewide event by rewarding residents who choose to use bicycling or walking to travel to their workplace. Visit the City of Golden Bike to Work Day station at 10th & Washington in front of the Visitor's Center from 6:30 to 9 a.m. to enjoy food, refreshments and giveaways.
Don't have a bike? Reserve one through the Golden Bike Library at
goldenbikelibrary.com, or pick one up that day by visiting the Bike Library building behind the Visitor's Center.

Community Sustainability Advisory Board Meeting
The Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) will meet on June 28 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street in Golden.
At the meeting, CSAB will consider the following:
- Requests to join the Paris Climate Agreement and other organizations
- Greenhouse Gas Emissions equivalencies discussion
- Amdendments to the Municipal Code: CSAB's enabling legislation
- Solar ballot initiative timeline and action items

Coffee with a Councilor - South Neighborhoods
This is a great opportunity to talk with representatives and residents of the South Neighborhoods, as well as any issue related to the "good of Golden."
Meet at
10 a.m. on July 1 at Bean Fosters, located at 720 Golden Ridge Road.

The tradition continues as the Golden Lions Club hosts a community celebration in Lions Park on July 4
th. The fun begins at noon with free rides for kids, face painting, live music, and a large fireworks display in the evening (weather permitting of course!). The celebration is a day for families, friends and neighbors to get together at the beautiful park on 10
th Street to picnic or purchase food and drink and enjoy the festivities.
Raffle prizes will be given out all day long. For a dollar each or six tickets for five dollars, you get a chance to win one of about 200 prizes while helping support the work of Golden Lions Club. Printed on the tickets are coupons for discounts and prizes at participating merchants. To buy raffle tickets, watch for Lions Club members outside King Soopers, Meyer Hardware, Windy Saddle Café, as well as other local business and at the Golden Farmer's Market. Proceeds from ticket sales go back into community betterment projects such as scholarships for Golden High School graduates and building the public restroom on 12 Street.

Help us celebrate Independence Day with a bang! The City of Golden will put on a fireworks display starting approximately
9:35 p.m., weather permitting.
The fireworks can be best viewed from along the creek and the Lions Park Ballfields.

New Jeffco Superintendent meets the public
Dr. Jason Glass is officially taking the reins as superintendent of Jeffco Public Schools on July 1. He will be "hittin' the road" on Monday, July 10 to meet, talk with, and get to know some of the families in Jeffco. As he visits with the community, Dr. Glass has been asking three key questions: What should we keep doing? What should we stop doing? What should we start doing? He is interested in hearing from all facets of our district to help identify priorities to develop a plan to move the district forward and best serve students.

2017 Curbside Appliance Pick-Up Program
The City of Golden now offers curbside appliance recycling to all single family and townhomes in Golden.
Acceptable appliances are limited to: washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, ovens, undercounter appliances such as ice makers, and freezers. Items not listed here are not allowed and will not be picked up.
Appliances should be set out in a driveway or in front or side areas of the yard not impeded by a fence or gate. Please do not place items in the street or sidewalk.
Each appliance must be clearly labeled, "for CITY OF GOLDEN RECYCLING".
Please call (303) 953-5800 and leave your NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, AND TYPE OF APPLIANCE FOR PICKUP.
Pickup is the following TUESDAY. Please place the item out by 8 a.m.

Seeking public feedback for a CSM Neighborhood Report
City Council and staff are seeking specific input and recommendations as to how the relationship of the buildings and uses along the edges of the CSM campus can meet the University's needs while respecting and enhancing the physical and social relationship with adjacent neighbors. If this relationship is something that concerns you, the City wants to hear from you! The final outcome of the public process is to provide a Colorado School of Mines Neighborhood Report to City Council for consideration in developing an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Colorado School of Mines.

Volunteers Needed for Golden's Community Solar Ballot Initiative
Golden's Community Sustainability Advisory Board (CSAB) is taking steps to bring a community solar garden to Golden. The first step in the process is for citizens to vote whether to add renewable energy as an allowable land use at the Rooney Road Sports Complex. While no specific solar garden project is under consideration at this time, if voters approve the use of renewable energy at the site, next steps will be to amend the current lease with Jefferson County and look for a favorable project. CSAB is recruiting volunteers to assist with community outreach and engagement for the ballot initiative. Volunteer recruitment parties will be held July 19 and Aug 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Golden Community Center. Should Golden offer broadband? Take our survey!

Based on feedback from several residents and businesses, the City of Golden is looking into the potential deployment of gigabit broadband throughout the community. The City believes that affordable high quality broadband is a critical service for quality of life in Golden, as is the case with roads, water, sewer, and electricity.
To determine whether or not the City should offer broadband services, the City is conducting both a residential and a business Survey of Broadband Services. The survey was prepared by the City of Golden Broadband Task Force. The Broadband Task Force was formed shortly after the passage of the ballot initiative exempting the City from the constraints of Senate Bill 152. The Task Force consists of citizens of Golden with a range of technical and professional backgrounds.
The Residential Survey should only be completed if you are a resident within Golden city limits (not sure? Check the Jefferson County Address Wizard). The Business Survey should only be completed if your Business location is within Golden city limits.
Your input as a citizen of and/or a business within Golden is a very important component to the City's understanding of Broadband Services currently being provided. Your response will take only a few minutes and responses are anonymous.
