In June, a team of Carmel women had the opportunity to serve with SutiSana in La Paz, Bolivia on a short term mission trip. Jennifer McNaughton had the privilege of returning for a second time and leading the team. Today she shares with us how the Lord was at work through their time at SutiSana:
“This year was different in that I knew almost all the women we were there to serve. Seeing their faces the first morning we went to the factory was priceless. I don’t know who was more excited to see each other, me or the women! In short term missions it’s not often to return and be with the same people as before but it is so worth it when you do.
Part of our time there was spent hosting a retreat for the women that was based on Ephesians 2:1-10. It was broken into 4 parts: created, called, redeemed and walking in good works. During the retreat we had teaching sessions, small group discussions and craft times. Each of our team members were split into different groups with the SutiSana artisans and employees. It was amazing how comfortable they felt and opened up when sharing. The picture (middle picture below) is from the bracelet making time we had. It was so fun to see the women relaxed and creating beautiful things for themselves and others.
I have absolutely loved serving SutiSana and will continue to do so to help provide dignified employment for the women of Bolivia who have been through so much.”
We are praising the Lord for how He is at work around the world and for the opportunity we have as a church to partner with ministries like SutiSana in the work they do for the glory of God!
