FREE Food Boxes available for Distribution in the Glades through May - sign up your organization now!FOODBOXES

If your organization wants to distribute the white food boxes to people in need in the Glades area, call us (Sandy 561-996-3310) to make an appointment for pick up. Pick up days will be May 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th, from 10 am - 2 pm. Once you call and have a confirmed appointment for pick up, we will tell the specific pickup location here in the Glades. 

The boxes contain items such as cereal, Chef Boyardee, trail mix, granola bars, Pop Tarts, pudding, and shelf stable milk. The goal is to feed as many people as possible, and feed again, until every food box goes out before the food's expiration date which is July of 2018.

Glades PATCH Meeting PATCH

The Glades PATCH (Planned Approach To Community Health) is a program designed to help the community evaluate, plan and implement health education and disease prevention and intervention programs. PATCH helps promote the health of the community to include social, emotional and physical well-being of its citizens. PATCH is a partnership of concerned citizens and organizations. This partnership provides a forum for identifying health problems affecting the community and mobilizing the community to plan, conduct and evaluate intervention services. The meeting is open to all who wish to join.

World Refugee Day in Lake Worth

This year, members of the Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Force are organizing a World Refugee Day event to be held in Lake Worth. The event's theme this year is "Many Cultures, One Nation" will take place at Palm Beach State College Lake Worth Campus in the Duncan Theater. We have sought the participation of federal, state agencies, Palm Beach County public officials, community organizations, and media. The event will include a naturalization ceremony by USCIS. During this event, various refugee service providers will have information tables with resources for the community.

Parent Power Hour/Kindergarten Summer Reading Program 2018

Parents, if your child is currently in Kindergarten this information are for YOU!

Bridges at Pahokee and the Loula V. York Branch Library are collaborating on a Summer Reading Program for the parents of children who will be entering first grade in 2018-2019.  The Library calls this program "Parent Power Hours" as parents learn best practices to support their child's beginning reading skills.  Children, ages 3 and up, are invited to attend fun activities in the children's section and read stories with some very entertaining visitors (fire fighters and community engagement deputies).

EmpowHER of the Palm Beaches  is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 class of EmpowHER  Leadership Academy for Girls

EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls will empower female students from various schools throughout the Palm Beach County School District. The academy supports diversity and will introduce junior and senior girls to organizations that are led by women executives and will focus on

* interview skills
* resume writing
* effective communication both verbal and written
* career exploration and much more
