Free Food Box Distribution in the Glades
The Glades Initiative, through our Glades Area Food bank is partnering to have a couple truckloads of Food box delivered to The Glades Area for those organizations with no transportation to pick up in West Palm Beach. The boxes contain items such as Chicken Creole with Brown rice, Pasta Fagioli, Chicken Pasta Parmesan, and Whole Pinto Beans. The goal is to feed as many people as possible, and feed again, until every food box goes out!
To sign up your agency for this opportunity, please contact Sandy at The Glades Initiative. Pick up times will be scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays until every food box is gone! if your agency would like to schedule a pick up contact Sandy with time and date, and number of boxes.

Free Booster Seat Giveaway in Belle Glade
Is your child in the right car seat? Free booster seats will be provided to the first 65 children who have outgrown their child safety seat. All children must be present to receive a seat, and all seats must be installed in the vehicle. Certified CPS Techs will be there to help. As of January 2015, all children in Florida up to the age of 6 must travel in a child safety seat. This is a community service provided by Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC, Safe Kids PBC, Belle Glade Fire Rescue, and BRIDGES at Belle Glade.

Rehearsals for FINAL Living Christmas Tree to Begin Soon
From the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center: It's hard to believe that it has been 30 years since the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center and the Glades Campus of Palm Beach State College presented the very first Living Christmas Tree. This year, the beautiful large tree will return for this 30th and final production and many audience favorites from the past 30 years will fill the program in "30 Years of Favorites".
To celebrate this special performance, the Dolly Hand plans to have a Dolly Hand Singers reunion! If you or someone you know have ever sung in the Tree, please join the choir as they start rehearsals! The rehearsals will continue every Monday up until the public performance on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.

2019 Emerald Awards Accepting Nominations
This event honors women in Palm Beach County who exemplify leadership and serve as role models for young women in our community - prior experience as a Girl Scout is not required.
Four awards will be given to women who embody the characteristics of today's G.I.R.L. - Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, and Leader. In addition, a Lifetime Achievement Award for Philanthropy and a Young Philanthropist Award will be given to two women who demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable support.

We are interested in exploring how communities such as yours are implementing SOC values and principles. Below, you will find a link to an online survey we would like you to participate in so we can better understand strategies used to expand the SOC approach.
"This survey is being conducted by USF as a part of the SOC grant and your individual responses will not be shared beyond the USF evaluation team. Participation in this survey is voluntary; however, your feedback can help improve SOC activities in your communities. Your answers will be anonymous. The Mentor Center is excited to announce the release of a Mentoring Support Opportunity. In looking to increase access to a post-secondary credential attainment, Achieve Palm Beach County is working with United Way's Mentor Center to increase both quality and capacity of mentoring programs within our county's underserved population of young men and boys of color, primarily. Alice in Wonderland Auditions with the Missoula Children's Theatre
Come and be a part of the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center's 25th annual production with the Missoula Children's Theatre in ALICE IN WONDERLAND, the very first title the theatre ever presented with Missoula Children's Theatre! Approximately 50 roles are available for local students. All students, grades K-5 - 12th grade, are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Most students rehearse approximately 4½ hours each day, Monday through Thursday. A performance is scheduled for local schools on Friday, September 28 at noon and two performances will be presented for the public on Saturday, September 29 at 11 am and 7 pm.
