Local artist teams with PHLT
to support conservation
A Fine Friend
by Patricia Griffin
Patricia Griffin, internationally acclaimed artist and conservationist is donating all proceeds of sale of prints of her painting A Fine Friend, to Pocono Heritage Land Trust (PHLT) to help protect the natural heritage of our Pocono Mountain region. These areas include important lands, waters, natural spaces, and open spaces.

Your purchase of a print of A Fine Friend will help further the work of PHLT. Prints are available in various sizes, framed or unframed, and on different print formats such as canvas, various types of paper, metal, and wood.

This beautiful artwork would make a thoughtful gift for someone, while supporting PHLT!

Board Member Spotlight

Board members Linda Snyder and Rita Lacey spearheaded the creation of a new trail segment at Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve. This project transformed what was previously an out-and-back hike into a loop trail that takes visitors on a journey to visit highlights of this 400+ acre preserve located in Monroe County's West End. The duo flagged and cleared a trail, through a heavily brushed area. Thank you both for your hard work!

Pocono Photo Club captures beauty of Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve
Pocono Photo Club has a knack for both photography and adventure. These folks regularly visit Pocono Heritage Land Trust properties and generously share their beautiful photography with us! During October, club members trekked to Jonas Mountain Nature Preserve, with cameras in tow: The results were stunning!

PHLT is grateful for our partnership with Ray Roper and the Pocono Photo Club.

Saving Cherry Valley Video
The beloved, local Cherry Valley is getting it's well-deserved five minutes (and much longer) of fame after the recent protection of 4,300 acres for Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Pennsylvania.

The project is an amazing “win” for bog turtles, migratory birds, and the protected lands that filter drinking water downriver in the Delaware.

Where would we be without the natural lands that keep our water clean?

Brodhead Canyon
Glen to Glen Trail East Walk
with local naturalist Don Miller

This guided PHLT Walk is on the former New York and Susquehanna railroad bed trail along the Brodhead Creek at the base of Godfrey's Ridge on the Monroe County Brodhead Creek Canyon Open Space Tract.

On Saturday November 16th from 10 AM - 2 PM, Brodhead Watershed Association will be hosting a walk on PHLT's Glen Run Nature Preserve , led by Carol Hillestad. This walk will provide an opportunity to see the landscape on the other end of the Brodhead Canyon, including an opportunity to see the Glen Run Lake!

This walk will complement Don's walk through the Brodhead Canyon on Sunday Nov. 17th. If you can make both, there is much to be learned about the history of this interesting geographical area!
