Our most sincere thanks!

Dear friends of the Spanish American Center:

The evening of October 27, 2017 brought a diverse group of academics, musicians, artists, social workers and social and politically minded citizens together for a great cause – an “Evening at the Arts” fundraiser for the benefit of the Spanish American Center , Inc. Our friends, both old and new, came together at the Fitchburg Art Museum to enjoy networking after work and were offered a sampling of Latino music, appetizers, beverages and dessert and, capping off the festivities, a talk and review by Lionel Reinfor d of his current exhibit at the museum, “Mr. Reinford’s World”.

His art is so endearing that virtually all who entered the gallery, regardless of background, were immediately drawn to the exotic and the familiar subjects of his paintings. As SAC board member Mary Yanneth Bermudez Camp noted in the evening’s program “your art unites us!” Indeed, the theme of the evening could be described as a celebration both of the diversity of Central Massachusetts and of our unity as a community.
The “Hispanic Community Spirit Award” was presented to Ms. Aida Maldonado, a Fitchburg resident and advocate for civic and health awareness – the organizer of “Pink in the City” program to assist breast cancer survivors among other events.

We had many guests from throughout the region, all recognizing the important work the Spanish American Center has provided in the past as well as the ongoing need for strengthening the finances of the Center for the future, ensuring that the agency will continue to meet the needs of families who have been displaced by hurricanes in the Caribbean.

We sincerely thank everyone who attended and everyone who attended in spirit. Special thanks to the Fitchburg Art Museum and Ms. Jessie Olson , who was instrumental in helping us with details and with making the evening a big success. Thanks also to Los Soñadores trio, who volunteered their wonderful music; and thanks to the culinary staff and volunteers at the Center, the event committee, our special guest MC for the evening, Mr. Edwin Cancel, local agencies, companies, political candidates, arts organizations and medical groups.
We also acknowledge Indian Hill Music in Littleton, Merrimack Repertory Theater in Lowell and D’Ambrosio Eye Care of Leominster for generous donations of gift certificates and ticket vouchers.
