Invest in the Future of our Foster Youth
Help Us Bring Success to Every Foster Youth in Santa Clara County by 2019  (N=ALL)

Dear SVCF Supporters,

The Silicon Valley Children's Fund is committed to changing the negative outcomes for foster youth in our community.   Without the right support in place, their future is grim with 40% becoming homeless within 18 months of emancipating from foster care.

Thanks to our donors, SVCF has provided education, enrichment learning and over $3M scholarship dollars to foster youth in Santa Clara County and we are now extending support to youth in San Mateo County. Our persistent coaching model provides our high school and college foster youth continuous mentor support, encompassing education planning, tutoring, career exploration and an unconditional commitment to help them define and achieve their life dreams!

We have made a commitment to offer our high caliber High School to Higher Education Pathways programs to ALL foster youth in Silicon Valley by 2019.

Our youth did not choose to be in foster care. They are good kids, who unfortunately had to manage difficult challenges early in life. Your support today can change a life forever!

Living My Dream
Noor Kathem
YES Scholar at De Anza College

My upbringing was plagued by war in the Middle East, displacement and child abuse. I came to the U.S. as a refugee and lived with my abusive mother, which lead to me entering foster care. I believe education is the best ticket to success. Despite the challenges, I studies so I could take the test to earn my high school diploma.

I am attending community college for international business.  I aspire to be a well-rounded individual; pursing athletics, volunteerism and developing my leadership skills. I am passionate about wrestling and proud to take 1st place this year in the state for my weight class.

I came to this country hungry to learn and my dedication, passion and perseverance has earned me a 3.7 transfer GPA and become actively recruited by Universities for my success in wrestling. The scholarship and tutoring supports from SVCF are essential in helping me reach my dreams. This will all help me achieve my dream of earning an international business degree and developing sustainable economics with in the Middle East.
