Updates on County Road Improvements
|
|
Gilmer Rd at Midlothian Road:
The development of the final plans for improvements to the intersection of Gilmer Road and Midlothian Road is continuing. Lake County has acquired over 60% of the right-of-way and easements necessary to construct the project. It is anticipated that utility companies will be able to start relocating their facilities later in 2019. This project is included in the County’s 5 Year Highway Improvement Program for construction in 2022. It is possible that the construction of the project could be moved earlier if funding becomes available.
Fremont Center Rd at IL 60:
The design for the Fremont Center Road at IL Route 60 project is also continuing. Lake County is reviewing the roadway plans and maintenance of traffic alternatives. IDOT is currently reviewing the traffic signal and roadway plans. Land acquisition is underway for the impacted parcels. It is anticipated that land acquisition will be completed this fall in time for utilities to begin relocating their facilities. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2019 or 2020.
Resurfacing of Fremont Center Road from Erhart Road to Gilmer Road
The Lake County Division of Transportation will be proceeding with the resurfacing of Fremont Center Road from Erhart Road to Gilmer Road. Improvements will consist of resurfacing the roadway pavement, providing wider shoulders, and localized drainage improvements. Construction is anticipated to occur during the summer of 2019.
As part of this project, a large metal culvert at Squaw Creek (just south of the schools) will be replaced with a 16’-wide x 8’-tall reinforced concrete box culvert. To accomplish this work, it will be necessary to restrict Fremont Center Road between IL Route 60 and Gilmer Road to local traffic only, with a full closure at Squaw Creek. This road closure is expected to last for approximately three weeks and occur when the schools are out for the summer. Detour signage will direct motorists to use IL Route 60, IL Route 176, and Gilmer Road as alternate routes.
Fremont Center Road will be open to all traffic at all other times while this project is being constructed. However, as with any construction project, motorists can expect periodic delays since lane closures will be necessary to perform the work.

Saddlebrook Mail Delivery
|
|
I have heard from a few people who are concerned the Grayslake Post Office is contemplating getting rid of the house to house mail delivery in Saddlebrook. I spoke with Post Master Ben Giese and he assured me the existing residents will remain the same. They are however looking to centralize the new development area. Delivery has been established for the existing neighbors and they are not changing your delivery.

Tax Time - Don't Get Scammed
|
|
Whether your taxes are finished or you plan on waiting until April, it's important to be aware that the IRS scams are as prevalent as ever.
Even though these scams have been around for years and seem to be rather well known, the police often receive calls from unsuspecting residents. Many times the resident has heard about the scams, but nevertheless became concerned the first time a call was received. In addition, sometimes the call ID is spoofed to make it appear as though the IRS is actually calling.
The IRS will never:
Call to demand immediate payment over the phone, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you several bills.
Call or email you to verify your identity by asking for personal and financial information
Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe
Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card
Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone or email
Threaten to immediately bring in local police or other law enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
|
|
CALL SCAM! If you get a call from a company that says they are providing a $200 rebate on your Electric and Gas Bill, IT IS A SCAM. The phone number is 800-334-7661, which is ComEd but ComEd affirmed that it is indeed a SCAM. The caller said that if you don't follow through, they will have to cut your service. It is a scam. Do not talk to them.
