Weekly Newsletter - One Day Delayed

Lindsie Schmidt, member of SPC, (photoed here) who donated before heading to her daughter Ellie’s First Grade Spring Concert.

Thank you for being so patient...

This week the newsletter was delayed one day, to allow me to host a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Steelville Presbyterian Church (SPC), yesterday, May 14.

We were able to collect 37 units of blood, which will be used to save or sustain the lives of up to 111 individuals. Giving the gift of life to our neighbors is a beautiful act of love.

Blood reserves remain low, post covid, and we are just one catastrophe away from a national health crisis. If you have time, and a desire to give of this valuable renewable resource, click here for your nearest blood drive, or visit me on Tuesday, September 3, when I next host a blood drive at SPC. We will have plenty of food and fellowship at the event!

LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES

  • Please pray for... for those hit once more by strong storms, that seem to cycle through mid and southern Illinois.

  • Please pray for... for the family of Susan Sherman Talley and the St. Mark Presbyterian Church and Pre-School as they mourn her sudden passing from this life.

Confronting Christian Zionism

Thurs., May 23 11:00 AM

Nationalism and Christian Zionism We are living in a time of heightened nationalism around the world, from North American white Christian nationalism to similar trends in Europe and even across Asia in forms entangled with Islam and Hinduism. If we are to control and roll back the racism that accompanies ideologies of supremacy, we must understand the history of our own nation’s white supremacy and how it has enabled the rise of racism both here and abroad.

Missouri Right to

Reproductive Freedom Amendment

The Missouri Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment Initiative Petition is collecting signatures now. If enough signatures are collected, this will appear on the ballot in November 2024.

The amendment will amend the Missouri Constitution to provide the right to reproductive freedom.

The Public Witness Team offers an opportunity for all Giddings-Lovejoy churches. One of our team will come to your church with Reproductive Freedom petition sheets to collect signatures. The most successful time to collect signatures is after Sunday services during the Fellowship Hour, but we can come whenever is best for you.

To learn more or if you are interested in participating, please click here for more information.
