May is Mental Health Month


In Matthew 25, Jesus confronts how our society's most vulnerable are diminished. We can no longer ignore how those who suffer from mental illness are constantly marginalized and mistreated. Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to share information, stories, and resources that will help reduce the stigma of mental illness and lead to better quality of care for those struggling. COHORTS LAUNCHING IN THE FALL

DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS MAY 31

The Around the Table initiative empowers church leaders to nurture faith at home and transform faith communities. Coached cohorts guide faith communities to become thriving intergenerational communities, fostering a holistic integration of Christian faith in daily life. Columbia Theological Seminary’s

Wonder of Worship Program Offering $1,000 Grants

The ‘Quick Wins’ grants are offered to congregations to help faith communities that are working to nurture children in their worship and prayer lives. The Wonder of Worship program at Columbia Theological Seminary offers a second round of grants of $1,000 to congregations nationwide looking to enhance children's engagement in their corporate workspaces. Wonder of Worship is funded through Lilly Endowment’s Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative. The national initiative aims to support faith-based organizations as they help children grow in faith and deepen their relationships with God.

CAMP CREATION AT

FIRST UNITED - BELLEVILLE

In June we will have Camp Creation! It is a camp for kindergarten through fifth graders each day June 3-7. Kids will investigate the wonders of God's creation through faith conversations, scientific exploration, and art. This is a free camp for children currently in kindergarten through fifth grade. Registration Options Gathering registration will be available at presbyterianwomen.org/gathering, March 1–July 7, 2024. Know that by registering early, you’ll have the fullest selection of workshops (which can fill up), the option to purchase a Gathering tote bag (which sold out in 2018) and if you register by May 1, you’ll receive the early registration incentives! After July 7, you may register on-site at the Marriott St. Louis Grand.

Stewardship Kaleidoscope is an annual conference offering excellent plenary speakers, informative workshop leaders, provocative worship experiences, and incredible networking opportunities for all who are passionate about stewardship and generosity. Drawing leaders from across the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), the Lutheran Church (ELCA), and other ecumenical partners, Stewardship Kaleidoscope is designed to help participants explore stewardship in its many colorful dimensions!

Synod of Mid-America Scholarships Available

DEADLINE is July 15, 2024

Funds are available for Presbyterians to use at any accredited institution of higher learning (including trade schools and graduate study programs.)

Scholarships are awarded per school year and are renewable with an annual application. Open to active Presbyterians within the Synod of Mid-America, and whose church membership qualifies as reported December 31, 2023.

Kansas - Total of 100 members or less | Missouri - Total of 50 members or less

Nationalism and Christian Zionism We are living in a time of heightened nationalism around the world, from North American white Christian nationalism to similar trends in Europe and even across Asia in forms entangled with Islam and Hinduism. If we are to control and roll back the racism that accompanies ideologies of supremacy, we must understand the history of our own nation’s white supremacy and how it has enabled the rise of racism both here and abroad.
