How Did We Get Here? Celebrating 160 Years
Blog Post by Cheryl Rainey,
Member of Pacific Presbyterian and Presbytery Commissioner to the Synod of Mid-American
with History of Pacific Presbyterian Church provided by Sue Reed
| |
In 1853 the railroad came west from St. Louis, into the small village of Franklin. In 1859, the Franklin was renamed as Pacific City, later to become simply Pacific. The folks that settled in this area were mostly of German and Irish descent. In the spring of 1864, a group of 10 or so families were working together to form a new church in the small town, and on July 17, 1864, The Presbyterian Church of Pacific City was founded, by the Presbytery of St. Louis.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! WE CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!
We need your help in filling volunteer positions at the Presbyterian Churchwide Gathering. These positions will be based on your physical abilities, so there will be many opportunities for those with limited mobility, and stationary/sitting positions.
You do NOT have to be an active member of Presbyterian Women or even be a woman. We welcome the support of all people. If you are an older youth or college student in need of volunteer hours, this is the perfect opportunity to serve.

Friends,
I apologize for causing confusion and inconvenience. The BOP Overview will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:30 p.m. The original date conflicts with the Public Witness Book Study and I do not want folks to have to choose between the two.
Peace,
Liz Rolf Kanerva
