Gathering and Pottery Workshop for Kids!

Saturday, November 4 | 10AM - 12PM | Brodhead Creek Heritage Center

Get outside and get creative! Kids ages 6 and up are invited to a Gathering and Pottery workshop with Pocono Heritage Land Trust and The Barefoot Potters.

After a quick walk to gather natural objects (such as leaves, pinecones, and seedpods),

kids will come inside the gallery at BCHC to roll out a 7”x7” piece of clay and use their natural found objects to create a trivet with a unique design (🎁 makes a great holiday gift!)

Fall Reminder: Leave Leaves Alone!

Fallen leaves are an important resource for a variety of birds, mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, and more -- providing habitat and food all winter long!

To support your backyard ecosystem, rake your leaves into a pile and leave them there.

Better yet, don't rake at all!

"But the leaves will kill the grass" -- that's a common misconception.

Running over fallen leaves with a lawn mower will chop the leaves into fine pieces, so they can remain in place while still allowing the grass to breathe, and the leaves also provide a natural source of vital nutrients to enhance your lawn year after year.
