Hello everyone!

Dare I say it? Spring is here at last, and to herald its arrival, we have an inspiring gardening event lined up for Sunday. Local author, and gardening maven, Michele Owens, will read at 4 pm from her new book, which I just finished and loved. We will provide munchies from Spoonful Catering - garden-inspired, of course.

Julia Spencer-Fleming
's new book, One Was A Soldier, went on sale today. Julia will be with us on April 29th. This is Julia's sixth mystery that takes place in Washington County, NY, and features the adventures of Reverend Clare Fergusson, recently returned from a tour in Iraq, and Chief of Police Russ van Alstyne. Don't miss the book, or the event with Julia!

See below for the 411 on these and other events.

Best,

Connie

Curiosity Forum: Grow the Good Life with author Michele Owens

Sunday, April 17th
4:00 pm
Freight Depot Theater, behind Hubbard Hall
FREE

As food prices have soared and Americans have become increasingly aware of the positive impact that locally grown food can have on their health and the environment, supermarkets and processed foods might soon be losing ground as the go-to food source. Though our parents saw them as the height of convenience, it turns out that nothing is more convenient than food shopping in your own backyard. Drawing on science, history, and stories from her own garden, Michele Owens presents a lively, passionate argument for the backyard vegetable garden in Grow the Good Life: Why a Vegetable Garden Will Make You Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise.
