Why I and You should train with Kettlebells, Mace & Clubs

HELLO

Everyone

I'm James Woodall Co-Owner of Woodall's Fitness and Performance. This year we are celebrating 20 years in business in Johnston County! Before I moved to NC I was a trainer, massage therapist and rehab specialist in Las Vegas!

(I'll tell you more in a separate newsletter.)

Kettlebells have been a staple at Woodall's since 2006. Mace and Club training since 2018.

These modalities are excellent for building strength, burning fat, and increasing joint mobility.

Why is this important?

As we age, maintaining strength and mobility becomes increasingly important for overall well-being. These two factors not only enhance physical health but also play a crucial role in preserving independence and improving quality of life. Embracing a proactive approach to staying strong and mobile can make a significant difference in how we experience the later years of life.

As a cancer survivor, training with these modalities has improved my strength and mobility. Did you know that, exercise is the number one recommended prescription from doctors to their cancer patients?! During cancer treatment, patients are encouraged to move. Kettlebell, Mace and Club Training have been instrumental in my recovery process.

The Importance of Strength and Mobility

  1. Maintaining Independence: Strength and mobility are fundamental to performing everyday activities, from climbing stairs to carrying groceries. As muscle mass and joint flexibility naturally decline with age, these basic tasks can become more challenging. By staying active and incorporating strength and mobility exercises into your routine, you can help preserve your ability to live independently.
  2. Preventing Falls and Injuries: Falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults, often resulting in fractures or other serious consequences. Regular strength training and mobility exercises can improve balance, coordination, and bone density, significantly reducing the risk of falls and their associated injuries.
  3. Enhancing Mental Health: Physical activity has well-documented benefits for mental health, including reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Exercise stimulates the release of endorphins, which can elevate mood and provide a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, staying active can help maintain cognitive function, keeping the mind sharp and focused.

4.Listen to Your Body: As you age, it's important to adapt your exercise routine to your body's changing needs. Pay attention to any discomfort or pain and adjust exercises accordingly. Consulting with a healthcare provider or a physical therapist can help tailor an exercise program that is safe and effective.

5.Engage in Social Activities: Joining a fitness class or exercise group can provide motivation and make physical activity more enjoyable. Social interaction during exercise can also improve mental well-being and create a sense of community.

Woodall's Fitness and Performance offers all of the above in abundance!

Until the next issue,

James Woodall Owner BS, CPT
