Summer of the Arts

September 3, 2024

Hello Lisa,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I guess this means we're supposed to be approaching fall although last week's weather sure didn't feel like fall! We are fortunate to have amazing partners like Iowa City Parks & Rec who allowed us to move our rescheduled Music on the Move with Natural Habits INSIDE at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area.

You'll see below that we have another Eat for the Arts this week but you really get to treat yourself at Molly's Cupcakes. A staple in downtown Iowa City for over 10 years, you'll appreciate their scrumptious cupcakes with or without a creamy filling. A couple of my personal favorites -- chocolate or lemon and raspberry!

We hope you'll join us over the next few weeks as we wrap up our regular season of summer fun! Remember that attendance is always free, but if you are able to help support this programming so everyone can enjoy it, please consider a tax deductible donation any time to support our community-wide programming. Click HERE to make a donation today. You can also give through Venmo: @SOTAIC.

Thanks for joining us this year!

Downtown Iowa City Ped Mall

Jumbies takes the rhythm, energy and motion of traditional Afro-Caribbean musical styles such as Soca and Reggae, the vibrant sound of the steel pan, and a high-energy funk backing band and spins out a tasty cocktail of seriously danceable music. What further blows the mind is that this sound comes out of five guys from Iowa!
