U.S. Classic Guitar President William Jenks is excited to present Croatian guitar virtuoso Ana Vidovic on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 7:30 PM. A master class will precede Vidovic’s performance at Christ Church Episcopal Parish on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:00 PM. This will be the headlining concert of the U.S. International Guitar Series 20th anniversary season.

A former student of Manuel Barrueco, Vidovic is arguably one of greatest guitar virtuosos in the world and has become a favorite among audiences. She was performing publicly by age 7, and internationally by age 11. By age 13 she became the youngest student to attend the prestigious National Musical Academy in Zagreb, where she studied with Professor Istvan Romer. David Williams of the Charleston Gazette identified Vidovic as a “soloist [who] can really grab the audience and draw them in […] with a gorgeous sound and finely pointed rhythm.” Vidovic has already given over one thousand public performances. She has also won an impressive number of prizes and international competitions all over the world; including: the Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath, England; the Fernando Sor competition in Rome; the Francisco Tarrega competition in Benicasim, Spain; the Eurovision Competition for Young Artists; the Mauro Giuliani competition in Italy; and the Printemps de la Guitare in Belgium. 2024-2025 International Hawaii Guitar Series

U.S. Classic Guitar (USCG) and the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center (EHCC) are excited to present the opening concert for the 2024 - 2025 U.S. International Guitar Series in Hawaii featuring world-renowned and critically acclaimed Hawaii and Oregon based classical guitarist William Jenks performing a solo recital at the EHCC Kahua ʻElua Theatre located at 141 Kalakaua St, Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 4 PM. His program will include some of the most popular and beautiful gems of the classical guitar repertoire including works by Luis Milán, Johann Sebastian Bach, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tárrega, and more with music spanning over the last five centuries. He will be performing on a beautiful handmade concert classical guitar built in Na’alehu, Hawaiʻi by famed luthier Woodley White. This instrument was recently gifted to U.S. Classic Guitar by Elizabeth Gandara in memory of her late husband Charles Gandara for use in recitals and recordings featuring William Jenks, his students, and other artists performing in the U.S. International Guitar Series. This performance will mark the start of a new chapter in the Hawaii International Guitar Series now taking place at EHCC as one of our new Hawaii venues with an exciting 2024 - 2025 line-up of internationally renowned classical and flamenco guitarists soon to be announced.
