REPORT RELEASE: Caregivers and Digital Health
Please join us at MeHI's report release event focusing on the challenges family caregivers face and how they perceive and use technology.
In 2014, the Family Caregiver Alliance found that Massachusetts had over 650,000 "Informal caregivers"
who provided over
697 million hours of care
.
MeHI's new survey research, completed in partnership with
MassINC Polling
, will present key findings about these caregivers, providing insights into the burdens they face and the opportunities for innovators and healthcare organizations to develop high-impact digital health solutions targeting the caregiver population.

PULSE Finale: Program Winners and Other Awards
The culmination of hard work, innovation, and partnership was on display at the Wilbur Theatre last Tuesday, June 13th, as the first cohort of the PULSE@MassChallenge program celebrated completion at the
PULSE@Finale
.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker spoke to a crowd of about 700 attendees. During the event, Gov. Baker
announced that MassTech plans to award another $250,000 to further support digital health innovation through a $170,000 grant to PULSE@MassChallenge, and an $80,000 grant to
TechSpring, Baystate Health's technology innovation center in Springfield.
Gov. Baker and other presenters from many of the top supporters of the PULSE@ program announced the top three startups and the winners of two additional partner awards:

Mass Digital Health Profile
3Derm: Digital Triage...A Faster Path to Treatment
3Derm is
a Boston-based digital health company working to optimize dermatology care.
Patients across the United States may wait months for a dermatology appointment. With 3Derm, a dermatologist can remotely review a patient's skin concern within hours, and if needed, see the patient in-person within a week.
As a program participant of the first cohort of PULSE@MassChallenge, 3Derm recently won the 2017 Sunovio
n Startup's Choice Award.

Mass Digital Health Represented at the Health IT Summit Innovation Power Hour
Healthcare Informatics
hosts a series of events & programs every year to promote improvements in the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care through information technology. This year Boston hosted a Health IT Summit on June 15th & 16th.
On Thursday, June 15th,
Laurance Stuntz, Director of the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at MassTech (MeHI), presented during the "Innovation Power Hour" along with
Katie Stebbins, the
Assistant Secretary of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Mass. Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, and Co-Chair of the Mass Digital Health Council.
Laurance
shared how Massachusetts has become a leader in sourcing innovation across the Commonwealth and how models that MeHI and others have put in place incentivize the uptake of new, innovative products in the digital health sector. Asst. Sec. Stebbins spoke about innovative developments in multiple technology sectors - like Cybersecurity, FinTech and EdTech - are benefiting the digital health sector in Massachusetts.
Following their session, PULSE@MassChallenge showcased an Innovation Lab where attendees could experience emerging technologies from some of the world's hottest, most innovative digital health companies right here in Boston.
