JUNE 2016
Meet the New Lighthouse Keepers!
Bakers Island Light Update

We are thrilled to open Bakers Island Light Station to the public for a second summer and to welcome new volunteer light keepers, Brenda and Bill Simmons!  Bill and Brenda are experienced Lighthouse Keepers from Maryland. Bill is a retired Park Ranger and Brenda operated her own store. They both enjoy meeting new people, experiencing various cultures and expanding horizons. Be sure you say "Hi!" when you go see the light!  Climb aboard  Naumkeag for an escorted, guided tour to Bakers Island Light Station! Boats go through Labor Day.   Learn more and get your tickets.

Border to Boston Trail in Boxford
Partnership Grant Spotlight

Employing the graphic style already used by four contiguous trail communities, the Boxford Border to Boston Trail Committee installed two informational kiosks along its recently opened section of the emerging 30-mile Border to Boston Trail. The visual materials enhance the public's safety and provide directional and cultural information on the railroad's history and its surrounding sites. In all, seven of the nine Border to Boston Trail communities feature branded interpretive displays funded, in part, with Essex Heritage grants.
