Research opportunity for union co-op practitioners

ICCM researcher Dr. Cian McMahon was awarded the Patrick J. McGovern Fellowship (2022-2023) by the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations, to study the role of labour unions in improving the governance of worker co-operatives. Union co-op practitioners interested to participate in this research can email cian.mcmahon@smu.ca for further details.

iMOVE Co-op Conversation Guidebook


The iMOVe Co-op Conversation Guidebook is an introductory-level guide developed to support groups having conversations about how co-ops can help solve problems in their communities. It was designed to be culturally appropriate for a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour) audience.

The Co-operators Young Leaders Award


Are you a Canadian co-operator 35 years or under? The Co-operators in partnership with Co-operative and Mutuals Canada is offering an award for young co-operators driving positive change in their co-op and within their community. Recipients will be enrolled in a 12-month leadership development academy and receive $1000. Applications are due January 20.

Are you a co-operator 35 years or under residing in North America? The Cooperative Development Foundation in partnership with the National Cooperative Business Association is offering an 8-month professional development fellowship for young employees, board members and post-secondary students working for co-ops and others interested in co-ops. Co-ops and other social solidarity economy initiatives are encouraged to engage with this manual to measure their sustainability performance.
