Glynn County Holds Ribbon Cutting for New All-Inclusive Playground

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners, along with Glynn County Parks and Recreation staff, celebrated the opening of a new all-inclusive playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located at Blythe Island Regional Park, the playground is designed for children of all ages and abilities. Playground amenities include inclusive swings, climbing areas, slides and more.

Lowndes County Holds Groundbreaking for Broadband Expansion


Lowndes County, in partnership with Kinetic and Colquitt EMC, held a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate high-speed fiber internet coming to the County. With this public-private partnership, broadband will be available to over 16,000 homes and businesses. The initiative is funded by $21.7 million from the Georgia State Fiscal Recovery Fund and $17.6 million in private capital from Kinetic which will cover any cost overruns.

Fayette County First Responders Thanked for Saving German CEO's Life


Fayette County first responders received a heartwarming visit from Knut Zinnacker, a German CEO who credits the response team with saving his life. During a previous stay, Zinnacker experienced heart pains while conversing with his coworker, Sharron Singletary, over the phone. Without hesitation, Singletary dialed Fayette County 9-1-1, remaining on the line as they rushed to Zinnacker's aid. Upon arrival, the first responders went above and beyond to provide comfort and medical services. One responder even eased Zinnacker's nerves by singing an Elvis song in German during the journey to the hospital. Zinnacker expressed his gratitude to the team for their prompt response and compassion. Although he suffered from a clogged artery, he is now healthy and well thanks to Fayette County first responders.

Paulding County Holds Groundbreaking for New Public Safety Grade

Paulding County officials recently broke ground on a new Public Safety Grade, Project 25 radio system. Public Safety Grade refers to best practices necessary for mission critical public safety operations, and the radio system will elevate safety standards for its users and offer enhanced communication with neighboring counties. Once implemented, the radio system will significantly improve public safety response, ensuring the well-being of residents.

Governmental Affairs Staff Witness Bill Signing of Two Impactful Pieces of Legislation


This week, ACCG Governmental Affairs staff members Martha Revelo and Dante Handel joined Governor Brian Kemp for the signing of HB 0946 - Single County TSPLOST and HB 1223 - Soil Amendments. View the Final Legislative Report for more information on significant bills that passed this session.

ACCG Director of Operations and Administration Honored with Award


ACCG Director of Operations and Administration Beth Brown was recently recognized by Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Kevin Tanner for her role in developing a process to identify and facilitate the election of members of the Georgia Opioid Settlement Advisory Commission (GOSAC) and Regional Advisory Councils (RACs).
