Whitfield County Hosts ACCG/GMA Government Communicators Meeting

Whitfield County hosted the recent quarterly Government Communicators meeting, a joint initiative between ACCG and the Georgia Municipal Association. The quarterly event provides a space for county and city communications professionals to network, learn about industry trending topics, and engage in peer exchanges. During the meeting, the group shared tips for juggling the various responsibilities of a government communicator when resources are limited. The meeting concluded with a tour of the Conasauga Community Addiction Recovery Center (CCARC), which was recently recognized with a 2024 Georgia County Excellence Award.

Mitchell County Partners with Local Charter School and AmeriPro EMS for New Program

The Mitchell County Board of Commissioners partnered with the Baconton Community Charter School (BCCS) and AmeriPro EMS to provide a new program for students pursuing careers as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). The new program is the first of its kind in Southwest Georgia and the first to be offered by a Georgia Title I rural public charter school. The unique partnership between BCCS and AmeriPro Health comes amid a dire paramedic/EMT shortage across Georgia and the U.S.

Haralson County Crisis Response Team Receives Vehicle Donation


Since its inception in February 2024, the Haralson County Crisis Response Team has been making a significant impact in the community by connecting individuals suffering from mental illness to proper care and resources. To further bolster their efforts, the Haralson County Sheriff's Office donated a vehicle to the team at no cost to taxpayers. Haralson County is excited to see how the new addition will enhance the services offered.

Newton County Chairman Helps Welcome National Delegation

Newton County Chairman Marcello Banes joined Covington Mayor Fleeta Baggett in welcoming Sen. Jon Ossoff, Sen. Raphel Warnock, Congressman Hank Johnson and Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology Laurie Locascio to the county. The delegation visited the county to celebrate the U.S. Department of Commerce’s $75 million investment in Absolics, Inc, an affiliate of Korea based SKC. The funding will be used to build a 120,000 square-foot facility in Newton County.

Dougherty County Hosts Annual Employee Appreciation Day

Dougherty County recently hosted its annual Employee Appreciation Day. As the event took place during Public Works Appreciation Week, county leaders took the opportunity to acknowledge the vital impact that public works has on the community. The event also featured food, competitive games, and appreciation gifts.

Gwinnett County Honors Fallen Heroes in Memorial Day Ceremony


Gwinnett County recently held a Memorial Day Ceremony to honor its residents. The ceremony featured the induction of Jimmy Cenescar, a state trooper who lost his life in the line of duty, and Edaniel Hinton Moore, a fallen World War II soldier, into the Gwinnett County Fallen Heroes Memorial.

Columbus-Muscogee and Talbot County Officials Meet with Congressman Sanford Bishop


Columbus-Muscogee and Talbot County officials met with Congressman Sanford Bishop and his staff for a roundtable discussion. Representatives from the City of Fort Gaines also joined the meeting which took place in Columbus-Muscogee County. Local officials shared with Congressman Bishop the challenges their communities face regarding workforce development, youth engagement, and broadband connectivity.
