Tift County Unveils New Pickleball Complex

The Tift County Board of Commissioners recently held a grand opening for the new Tift County Pickleball Complex. The complex features eight courts, a pavilion, concessions, and restrooms. The grand opening concluded with an inaugural Pickleball match with County Manager Jim Carter and IT Director Al Stephenson challenging Chairman Tony McBrayer and Recreation Director Tim Petrea.

Telfair County Selected for National Economic Mobility Program for Rural Counties


Telfair County has been selected as one of 10 rural counties to be a part of the National Association of Counties (NACo) new Rural Leaders for Economic Mobility (RLEM) Program. RLEM connects elected and non-elected county leaders and explores effective strategies to improve economic mobility conditions that move individuals and families out of poverty. Telfair County Vice-Chair Dakkia Bradshaw and Telfair County Board of Assessors Chair Denise Best will represent the county.

GCIP Intern Making an Impact

in Paulding County


Kennesaw State student Anna Rivera has spent her summer working the Paulding County Mental Health Court. Working alongside the mental health court coordinator, Rivera has developed and created a resource database for community service providers in the county. She also designed an incentive and reward program for court participants and implemented participant surveys to gather feedback about the program.  

Lowndes County Probation Recognized During Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week

The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners recently recognized the dedication of Lowndes County Probation employees during Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week. Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, recognized July 21-27, is a time to honor and celebrate the dedicated, caring individuals in the community who work tirelessly to keep neighborhoods safe.

Whitfield County Fire Department Receives Equipment Donation from GFC


The Whitfield County Fire Department was one of 10 departments to receive essential firefighting equipment from the Georgia

Forestry Commission (GFC). Through their Rural Fire Defense (RFD) program, GFC donated critical gear, including fire helmets, gloves, commercial blowers, and more to the 10 counties recovering from the November wildfires. The RFD program is designed to provide rural communities with the tools and resources they need to handle wildland fires more effectively.
