County Officials Attend the North Policy Committee Meetings

More than 80 county officials and county staff from traveled across the state to attend the first round of ACCG Policy Committee Meetings in Bartow County. Attendees heard from various state agency representatives on resources and programs available for counties along with legislative updates from the ACCG Governmental Affairs team. During the meetings, county officials voted on the top three legislative priorities for the Policy Council to consider. Registration for the South and Federal Policy Committee Meetings is still open. Outdoor Adventures Await at Spring Hill Park in Newton County


Newton County celebrated the grand opening of its newest park, Spring Hill Park, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The park features a community building, playground, walking trails, 18-hole disc golf course, water feature, community garden and a pavilion. The park, a 2017 SPLOST project, was planned in collaboration with local residents throughout many town hall meetings and input sessions.

Gordon County Unveils Purple Heart Monument

In honor of National Purple Heart Day, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners unveiled a Purple Heart Monument at the front of the county courthouse. This monument is the culmination of collaborative efforts between Marvin Garner, a representative from the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 525, and the Gordon County Board of Commissioners, aimed at paying tribute to the Purple Heart recipients in Gordon County.

Summer of Legal Discovery for GCIP Intern


In Macon-Bibb County, Emory Law student Grace Choi is interning with the county attorney’s office. Throughout her summer internship, Choi has assisted with litigation and has been able to shadow attorneys inside and outside of the courtroom. She has also worked on pieces of legislation, the county code of ordinances, and has practiced legal research on a variety of cases.
