Starting September 1, 2024 Dr. Fred Huff and Pastor James Jividen will serve as Co-Directors of New Church Development. The Georgia District Advisory Board has approved a one-year plan for these two to share this vital role of encouraging and facilitating new church starts, and equipping and training church planters on the Georgia District.
Dr. Huff has served in a part-time role as Director of New Church Development since January 1, 2019. During that time, 15 new Nazarene churches have been started on the Georgia District. Prior to his current assignment, Dr. Huff served as pastor, missionary (New Zealand), church planter, district superintendent (Georgia and New Mexico), and Regional Director for the Church of the Nazarene in Africa. Dr. Huff remains passionate about new church development, but recent health challenges limit his ability to travel and train church planters. Dinah Huff continues to serve as our District Office Administrative Assistant.
For the next year, Dr. Huff will mentor Pastor Jividen in this role. No additional district resources have been allocated for this shared assignment. Pastor Jividen will also continue to serve as Pastor at Foundation Church (a non-traditional church plant in Martinez), and Pastor at Augusta First.
Pastor James Jividen has been married to Erica since 2007, and they have three children: Savannah (16), John (10), and Sam (8). James is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and has served as pastor, associate pastor, church planter, and hospice administrator. James is also a U.S. Army veteran with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ohio Christian University, B.A. (Ministry and Leadership), and M.A. (Pastoral Counseling), and several church planting certifications.
Thanks for your prayers for Dr. Huff, Pastor Jividen, and the Georgia District as we advance the Kingdom of God together.
