Not a member yet? Membership is open to everyone 55 & better. Cost is $15 for Georgetown Township residents and $35 for non-residents. Membership covers January 1 through December 31 and is not prorated. Membership is required for participation in Center activities.

The Georgetown Library is teaming up with Ridgewood CRC again to provide an evening of Fall family fun! Events run from 6-8PM and include a Trunk-or-Treat, pumpkin decorating, kid's games throughout the library, face painting, pie baking & cupcake decorating contest, and more.

10/3 & 10/4: Fire Safety StoryTime (12:45PM): Join us for a special storytime celebrating fire fighters and firetrucks. Learn all about fire safety, meet some real life fire fighters and see a firetruck up close! We'll start in the children's program room and move outside to explore the firetruck.


10/14: Community Costume Share (10AM-1PM): Costume Share Day! Come pick out a new-to-you costume while supplies last! One per person, please. This program relies on donations. We are collecting clean costumes and accessories at the library from September 18- October 12, in all sizes.


10/21: Special Effects Makeup Workshop (10AM): Ages 8+ (teens and adults welcome too!), join professional puppeteer and filmmaker Alex Thomas for the perfect pre-Halloween workshop! Participants will learn to create trauma effects like cuts, scars, burns, bruises, and more using a combination of special effects makeup, and non toxic household materials. Students will be creating effects on their own skin. Registration required.


Tuesdays at 3:30PM: Teen Afterschoool Hangout: Teens ages 13-17 are invited to spend their after school time at the library. Each week we will have board games, video games, craft supplies, snacks, and more available to teens to enjoy. We will also have special craft days, movie days, and even pizza days. This is a drop-in program so no registration is required and teens may arrive/leave anytime during the program.

JENISON HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION

SAVE THE DATE: The Jenison Historical Association is hosting its annual Christmas at the Museum Open House on Saturday, December 2 from 1-4PM. at the Jenison Museum.

Who were the first settlers of Georgetown Township? Besides the Jenison family, who were other pioneers in this Township? What were the earliest businesses? And where did the name "Georgetown" come from?


Learn the answers to these and many more questions by visiting the Local History Room. The Local History Room is located on the lower level of the Georgetown Library. The Room is open from 11AM-1PM on Wednesdays or by appointment.

Fences


Thinking about constructing a fence? While the Township Zoning Ordinance (Section 3.8) may answer most of your questions, it is always wise to check with the Zoning Department for township ordinances prior to any construction project at your residence.

If you are unclear about where the Zoning Ordinance permits fencing on your parcel or have any other questions relating to zoning, please contact the Township Zoning Department at 616.457.2340 x221.

ELECTION UPDATES


  • The Presidential Primary in 2024 will be the next election for Georgetown Township residents
  • Nine days of early voting for all State and Federal elections will begin with the 2024 Presidential Primary
  • Registered voters on the Permanent Mail Ballot List will be receiving a Presidential Primary Ballot Selection form to be completed and returned to the Township Clerk's Office in order to receive a ballot.
