The Importance of Water Safety in the Summer
Water Safety: During the summer months, many families will spend a lot of time on the water. We live in an area that is close to a wide variety of water options including rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, and the ocean, not to mention backyard and community pools. Whenever you are boating, kayaking, canoeing or using stand-up paddle boards, always remember to use approved personal floatation devices (PFD). For information on how to choose an appropriate PFD by the U.S. Coast Guard, visit: How to Choose the Right Life Jacket. Also, be sure to supervise children when they are in or near the water. Drowning does not always look like the splashing and noises that you see in movies and on television. To learn more, check out this article from Slate: Rescuing Drowning Children: How to Know When Someone is in Trouble in the Water

“It takes generosity to discover the whole through others. If you realize you are only a violin, you can open yourself up to the world by playing your role in the concert.” ~ Jacques-Yves Cousteau

"True generosity is an offering; given freely and out of pure love. No strings attached. No expectations. Time and love are the most valuable possession you can share." ~ Suze Orman

“ With generosity, overcome meanness.” ~The Buddha, Verse 223, The Dhammapada
It may not seem when you read your Buzz Around... but this is us in a battle.
A battle against meanness. A battle against disrespect.
A battle against these things that cause pain in our society.
Spreading good news is how we battle. Being generous, being kind, being loving and respectful. Encouraging creativity and positivity. Spreading joy. Buzz Around now publishes to 10,000 subscribers who join us in building strong communities of respect.

This began with my own struggle due to that critical inner voice: "because I am the mother, I should say something" or "because I care, I should say something," but not understanding the whole situation, I caused pain with my words. So the Buzz Around works to get it right, inspired by the many in our communities who give generously of themselves.

I found the battle with meanness begins within, usually in how we critically look at others. Being generous with our time to those in need is a great way to gain understanding.

To all the kindness warriors out there, giving generously: thank you. You are our front lines in the battle against a mean society.
