February 4, 2023

Greetings!

Are you hungry for social justice? Do you want to help repair this ailing world?

Thanks to you, 75 families in two indigenous villages in remote Guatemala have improved access to food and economic security while they navigate rapidly changing conditions due to climate change

We have an incredible opportunity to purchase an ideal plot of land as our future home to the gathering space for safety and learning. (Click to learn more.) If we raise $13,000 by February 28th, Habitat for Humanity Guatemala has agreed to set up a project to train village inhabitants to build a multipurpose dwelling for shelter and learning space. Having this space would make it possible to double our capacity to deliver services by this time next year.

We need your support to help create more success stories like this…

“I now have a chicken coop that produces eggs that our family can eat and sell. It is because of our greenhouse that we were able to have the funds to invest in this. And, now I am a leader in both my village and a neighboring one, demonstrating the benefits of this system.” [Her chicken coop is under her greenhouse.] (More info.)

Sowing Opportunities is creating a world of…

Racial and social Justice: Eastern Alta Verapaz in Guatemala is extremely remote in mountainous, rocky terrain and the villages receive no resources and have no governmental or nongovernmental aid except for that provided by Sowing Opportunities. Providing resources creates a climate of world peace.

Economic Justice as a path to address the immigration crisis: Sowing Opportunities has created a solution for people to be able to feed themselves and their families at their homes. Our team gets to know the people of a forgotten area, gains their trust, and teaches them to establish sustainable solutions.

Children adopted from forgotten regions of the world find their identity: As the parent of a child adopted from Eastern Alta Verapaz, I find it unconscionable to turn a blind eye to the lives and plight of the Q'eqchi' people.  It is a deep passion within me to see need and respond to it.

We’ll be sending you a series of emails over the next two weeks. to share how your support is making a difference to these communities in our quest to create a climate of world peace.

Today - we want to kick off the campaign strong. Will you join early and as a critical Day 1 donor? Can we count on your support of this capital campaign with a sponsorship of $25, $100, or $500?

Your tax-deductible sponsorship will be recognized and included on a plaque on the new building.

Most importantly, your generosity will help ensure that Sowing Opportunities is able to continue to provide resources to families in need who are moving their families out of malnutrition, hunger, and poverty, to have food security and to establish an economy.

And, know that, by preserving the dignity of humanity, you are helping to repair the world.

In gratitude,

Fern Remedi-Brown
