Coral Gables Executive Physicians, an internal medicine practice in Coral Gables has promoted Eris Thomas from president to CEO.
CGEP is known for offering same-day appointments and 24/7 telephone access, along with annual preventative check-ups, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, and diagnostic testing for customized care. As CEO, Thomas, 39, is responsible for the practice's strategy, operations and services, including preparation of the budget, supervision of human resources, and oversight of marketing/PR and community relations.

| Opko Health Acquires Stake in Russian Pharma Firm |

Opko Health acquired a 10 percent stake in a Russian pharmaceutical company that recently obtained new financing.
OAO Pharmsynthez, which trades on the Moscow Stock Exchange under LIFE, initiated a two-stage financing plan to raise $60 million and Miami-based Opko (NYSE: OPK) is among the participants.
Opko Health is led by Phillip Frost, MD.
