Dear KASD Friends and Family,
From as far back as the 1300s, the first day of April, better known as April Fools' Day, has been a time for playful pranks and fooling around. This year was very different for Kaukauna's State Forensics Champions, Mikenna Buchinger and Julia Holschuh, who were not fooling around at all as they defeated 47 other students in the category of Play Acting to bring home a State title. This year's WFCA State Tournament consisted of more than 70 schools and over 900 entries. Congratulations Mikenna and Julia for launching April so successfully.
This set the stage for a few more State champions: The KHS Destination Imagination team of Emma Hurst, Holly Haden, Hannah Doughman, Natalie Kuehl, and Pieper Kruchoski, who recently won the Fine Arts Challenge and brought home their own State title. They also earned the prestigious Judges' Award, The Outstanding Design Award, and the Engineering, Execution and Performance Award.
These special achievements are evidence of success, and fine examples of the amazing, high-quality students and staff that call KASD home.
Keep reading to find out more about the great things going on at within our district.
Thank you for your continued support.
Enjoy the Galloping Ghost Stories,
Mark P. Duerwaechter Superintendent

Whether you graduated last year or years ago ... we want you to combine for one, united, Kaukauna Strong Choir.
If you'd like to prepare ahead of time, please contact Becky O'Brien by email or by calling (920) 766-6113 x 5002 and she can provide you with a rehearsal track.

Our Spring activities are in full swing, and we're already having a great time and headed down the path of success!
Our
Forensics team had great success at the beginning of April as Mikenna Buchinger and Julie Holschuh earned the State title in the category of Play acting. KHS students Janelle Knick, Rachel Hietpas, Trent Hoffman and Mauricio Bentley also earned a 5th place finish in the category of Play Acting and Caven Malouf earned a semi-finalist medal in the category called Farrago. The team will end its season this weekend (April 21-22) at the WHSFA State Tournament in Madison.
The KHS
Destination Imagination team won first place in the state in the Fine Arts category, and will head to Knoxville, TN at the end of May to compete in the Global Tournament.
Our
Key Club
students continue to help out wherever they can in the community, most recently working at the Tanner Family Carnival, bringing together our oldest and youngest students for a day of fun to raise money for Tanner's new playground.
The
KHS Girls Soccer team is off to a strong start, with wins against Little Chute and New London, and ties with both Seymour and Hortonville.
Baseball hosted a triangular with Lakeland and Sheboygan North, going 1-1. We've taken some close losses against Hortonville and Appleton North in conference play, but are looking to take back the field in our upcoming game against Oshkosh North on Tuesday, April 25th.
Softball is off to a tremendous 5-0 start. We hosted our first game on the brand new field at KHS and where we won against Neenah 4-0. We're looking forward to a great rest of the season!
Our indoor
Track season is now complete and our student athletes seem excited to get outside! Our girls team is on a roll, winning two meets, one at Manitowoc Lincoln and the other against Little Chute.
The KHS
Tennis Team took third place at our home invitational on April 8th.
The
Boys Golf Team won the competitive Metro Invite in New London with a score of 310. Brock Hlinak was our medalist for the invite ... firing an impressive 74!
Don't forget ... you can always get updated information about what's going on at KHS by following the
