GRAD CLAS NOTES
May 2024
Celebrating a Milestone Achievement

On Saturday, May 18, we will gather to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our graduating students at the Master's and Doctoral Degree Commencement and Recognition Ceremony in Villanova Stadium. No matter where you may be on your life's journey, I encourage you to take a moment to acknowledge the significance of completing your graduate studies. Navigating the rigors of advanced study is challenging. It is a feat that relatively few around the world attain. I am very proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself. Some of you may be taking a next step in your professional careers, and others may be matriculating to a PhD program. Others may have paths that have yet to be discovered. Wherever you are at this significant life juncture, I firmly believe that we are all on our own path, and we each arrive at our intended destination, no matter how winding that road may be. What you accomplished during your time at Villanova is remarkable!

As you travel through life as alumni, we are here for you. The Grad Studies staff, faculty mentors, and our colleagues in University offices such as the Career Center and Alumni Relations are committed to supporting you. You will also have the support of your classmates, with whom you have formed strong relationships that will last a lifetime. The Villanova community is real.

I want to give a quick acknowledgement to the several CLAS Grad Studies staff who have earned Villanova degrees in recent years: Brooke Erdman ’16 MA, ’24 MA, Tommy Kennedy ’20 VSB ’22 MA and Ashley Leamon ’13 MA, 23 MA, who each earned a Master of Arts in Education, Higher Education Leadership concentration; Morgan Haller ’24 MA, who earned a Master of Arts in History; and Corie Alicea ’96 VSB, ’23 MPA, P’19, ’23, former Grad CLAS staff now Villanova MPA Associate Director, who earned a Master of Public Administration. We certainly practice what we preach when it comes to graduate education!

To all of our 2024 graduates, I wish you heartfelt congratulations!
