LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Hello Partners,
What I like about the New Year is that we ALL start again with a NEW clean slate. Gives hope for fresh beginnings and optimism! The Festival of Trees was once again well supported by 26 tree sponsors. Proceeds were shared with PJ Village as they were the host, using the PJ Village Center. We thank our Chamber Partners who so graciously decorated their themed trees. Out of the 26 supporters 22 were Chamber Partners! Our first event for 2022 was the Mac & Cheese Crawl which was wildly successful! With 420 ticket sales during the PJ BID Winter Ice Festival, participants visited 15 restaurants that sported their signature mac & cheese taste! There is nothing more comforting on a cold winter’s day than creamy, cheesy mac & cheese!! Although the initial date of the crawl and the Winter Festival was postponed to the next weekend, the crowds were terrific. It felt like a summer day and the business community flourished! Net proceeds were shared with the BID and thank you to all the attendees and restaurant participators!
The Chamber moves forward with planning our 2022 calendar and budget! Our 2022 budget was approved by our Board of Directors in January and this February we welcome 3 new board members. Heather Apolo- Bridgeport & PJ Steamboat Company, Elisa Gerontianos, Esq.- Gerontianos Law Firm, PC, and Christine Viscount-Kilwins of Port Jefferson. Their skill sets and input will be an added value to the existing board.
The Calendar of Events looks solid provided we are able to move through COVID! Bringing back our Health & Wellness Fest to its original April position and planning another food crawl for Apri/May. Hopefully having our new ‘Sounds of the Sound’ music event on the Ferry in June and our regular scheduled annual events to include our Easter Parade and our ever popular 8th Dragon Boat Race Festival in September!
Thank you all who have renewed your 2022 memberships. Our organization remains strong because of your support. The Chamber office is fully staffed and we welcome our new part timer Lisa Bloom, a Port Jefferson resident who has truly embraced her positon at the Chamber! Please continue to engage with YOUR Chamber as we are only as good as our membership!!

Chamber Partner Icon Properties sponsored a fundraiser to benefit ‘Cooking for Long Island Veterans’ Through their efforts they raised $3,000 dollars in donations. What a great way to support our well-deserved veterans!
Congratulations of the marriage of Loretta Criscuoli & Vinny Caridi December 23rd, owners of The Spice and Tea Exchange in Chandler Square. Twenty-seven friends and family members celebrated their union at a reception at Mirabelle’s in Stonybrook. Much happiness and many more anniversaries ahead of you both!
Owners of Salon Blond, Sean & Melissa Handley are celebrating the birth of their baby boy-Leo born October 20th, 6lbs 12 oz. All doing well and we wish them only the best with their new bundle of joy! Congratulations!
Congratulations to all the 2021 People of the Year winners, annually recognized by the Times Beacon Record News Media Paper! Particularly to our Chamber Partner Indu Kaur, whose family owns SaGhar, Meadow Club and Curry Club. Her contributions to her local community are reflected through her successful entrepreneurship, hard work and generosity. Thank you Indu!
Curry Club and SaGhar restaurants are now one of the same-Curry Club @ SaGhar! Both restaurants will complement one another with their consolation! Best of luck to Indu and family!

Students in the Stony Brook Department of Art’s visual arts program recently partnered with the Long Island Explorium to present a curated digital art exhibit, “A Visual Dialogue on Environmental Issues.” A collaboration between lecturer Qin Han’s “Digital Arts: Print” (ARS 325) and “Introduction to Digital Art” (ARS 225) courses and the Long Island Explorium, the exhibit focuses on the balance of local community needs fueled with artistic insight on environmental justice.
SUNY at Stony Brook has been recognized officially as a premier center for higher education. Stony Brook University plays as a statewide, nationally and internationally model of research and academic excellence. This designation acknowledges the excellence and reputations of our universities and it will further enhance their ability to continue to recruit the world’s most accomplished faculty and attract outstanding students — regardless of their income or socio-economic background — and attract even more highly competitive federal research funding.” Congratulations for such an honor.
Our Chamber Partner, All Souls Church has a new Vicar. Father Tom Reese who has “Stony Brook Roots” and brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He also fully appreciates the special role All Souls has in our community and looks forward to meeting you, either in church, at one of the many communities outreach programs, or in Stony Brook village. Please join our Chamber in welcoming Father Tom to the Greater Three Village Community.
