Merrifield Business News!
Bottoms up at The Lost Dog Cafe, GMBA’s newest member!

The first Lost Dog Cafe opened in the Westover neighborhood of Arlington in 1985, and the residents there soon discovered what a gem it was.
Lost Dog Cafe in Merrifield, the fourth location, opened in 2013. The reputation of the Arlington and other locations helped the Merrifield store to quickly become a local favorite. From the 50 (yes fifty) sandwich options to the 30 different pizzas all with clever names relating to dogs, there is something for everyone. Lost Dog also offers 23 beers on tap in addition to the 200 bottle beer options!

The unique art on the walls features some history of the area done in a dog theme. The artist, Jessica Lovelace, is a former Lost Dog Cafe employee. Though she no longer lives in the area, she continues to update the artwork from a distance.
Pam McAlwee the original Owner and Founder of Lost Dog Cafe decided to take her commitment to animal welfare to the next level. In 2001 she founded the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. Since then, LDCRF has saved over 40,000 lives and this number continues to grow. While 2020 brought many challenges due to COVID-19, LDCRF fulfilled the highest amount of animal adoptions in its 20-year history. Lost Dog Cafe, Merrifield, like all of the cafe’s, donates a portion of their profits to the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
Lost Dog has stayed open throughout the pandemic, expanding their take-out and delivery operation which includes their many craft beers. You can order on line for curb pickup at

Lost Dog Cafe is proud to be a part of the community and equally proud to be new members of the Greater Merrifield Business Association.
