Monarc Construction, Inc. – A Family Affair

If you live or work in Merrifield, you’ve surely seen the mini-cooper cars distinctively emblazoned with a beautiful Monarch butterfly zipping along Hartland, Gallows and Lee Highway. These cars belong to Moncarc Construction Inc.

Founded in 1987 by John Bellingham, Monarc Construction has completed more than 3,000 renovation and new construction projects in The District of Columbia and the surrounding suburbs. With that many completed projects, it’s hard to find any corner of the Washington DC metro area that doesn’t have one of their works of art. From Embassies to churches to historic preservation, Monarc is the “go to” expert in the region.

There are times where their reputation and ability to take on unique restoration projects precedes them, and the client does not obtain competing bids. This reputation starts at the top with John Bellingham who brings Monarc’s traditions of honesty, integrity, and creativity to each project.
John has also brought his son Mark and his daughter Tanya into the business. Mark started working at the company when he was sixteen years old, and joined the firm full time in 2008. Tanya completed her education in Environmental Studies and is an integral part of the company’s efforts to build “green.”  Monarc traditions of excellence are being passed on to the next generation.

Monarc has been in Merrifield for decades, and GMBA is proud to recognize this multi-award-winning company as its newest member.

Monarc is hiring Project Managers, Estimators, Skilled Craftsmen and Laborers. You can visit their website at www.Monarcconstruction.com to view their portfolio and see all job openings.

The Restaurant Revitalization Fund, part of the American Rescue Plan Act stimulus package, will provide emergency assistance for qualifying businesses with revenue losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible restaurants will receive funding to match their pandemic-related revenue loss: up to $5 million per physical location, or a total of $10 million per business. Eligible businesses with pandemic-related revenue losses include restaurants, food stands, food trucks, food carts, caterers, bars, saloons, taverns, lounges, taverns, snack and nonalcoholic beverage bars, bakeries, brewpubs, tasting rooms, taprooms, wineries, distilleries, inns, and alcoholic beverage producers with facilities for tasting and purchases.

For the first 21 days of the program, SBA will prioritize applications from small businesses at least 51 percent owned by women, veterans, or socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. From day 22 until funds are exhausted, all eligible applications will be accepted.
