It has been quite a busy summer for us here at Great Hearts Northern Oaks! The new gym, athletic fields and upper building have been completed and are ready for students; the lower school building is being redesigned to accommodate the new grades coming in; and our new families and staff are being brought into the Griffin community.
We have a number of events to prepare and orient our new families and students to our school.

We received our STAAR results recently and are thrilled at the results. Our students outperformed the local district (NEISD) and the state by significant margins in nearly every grade. What is most encouraging, however, is the amount of growth we are seeing in our students, especially in reading scores.
For example, our 7
th and 8
th grade classes both improved by over 5 percentage points over their 6
th and 7
th grade performances. We look to such growth as evidence that our program, as a whole, is serving all of our students.

We are so thankful for our families who continue to support our mission, of educating our children in Truth, Goodness & Beauty! If you have already pledged for the 17-18 school year, those gifts will start this month. Uniforms
As we move into our new Upper and Lower school model next year, a few changes have been made to our dress code. Please review.
Do you know your scholar will read over 140 unabridged works of literature, philosophy and history whole books during their Great Hearts years. Families are asked to buy Classics to Keep if you can to build your scholars library and also so they can annotate and enjoy for years to come! If you cannot buy the books copies will be available in each class. You can find our classics to keep list here.

Great Hearts Northern Oaks offers the EduKit program as a convenient option for busy families to order school supply kits for the 2017/2018 year. EduKits are custom made to include the supplies selected and approved by our school.
Order by July 15. A confirmation will be emailed to you after your order has been placed. You can order your kit at this link. If you would like to shop for school supplies on your own, then please use this official list.
Please note due to construction, your child's EduKit will be delivered to your home in early August.

Welcome Shraddha Nembang! Shraddha will be the new office manager of our Upper School! If you have upper school students (7th-9th), please feel free to email Shraddha directly for any needs you may have.
