GENEDGE Launches Pilot

Emerging Business Program

Industrial & Systems Engineer Andrae Kirkland, CSSBB Tapped to Lead Innovative Initiative.

GENEDGE Alliance is launching the GENEDGE Emerging Business Program to help companies with less than 20 employees scale their operations and expand their economic footprint. GENEDGE will strategically select companies into the Emerging Business Program via pre-determined evaluation criteria. Once a manufacturer has been selected, they will complete an assessment designed to help determine the opportunities that exist to help them grow. Each business will be paired with a dedicated consultant to drive the identified challenges to resolution.

**The initial focus will be on Hampton Roads & Richmond, expanding to the rest of the state throughout the year.** Click HERE to learn more about the program.

Mike Levy: Small Manufacturing Marketing Expert

In the world of small manufacturing enterprises, marketing can seem like a foreign language, but Mike Levy is committed to showing how “it’s just like manufacturing.

When Levy enters a small manufacturing enterprise, his primary objective is to establish GENEDGE Alliance as a credible and accountable marketing resource.

He emphasizes that marketing is not merely advertising but a process akin to their production operations. “I teach them that marketing is a process with production variables,” he said. “It has things that go into the process and things that come out. Typically, they’ve never heard anyone talk about marketing in this manner.”

Testimonials from our members

"GENEDGE was pivotal in locating professional services to test, market, and bring our new technology to market and the grants to support those services. GENEDGE has delivered, and continues to deliver, services that we value and services that we would not have been able to organize and effect on our own.”

Highlights from the GENEDGE Roadshow in Hampton, VA

The GENEDGE Roadshow stopped over at the Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery in Hampton, VA, early last month. Helping foster invaluable conversations with Commonwealth manufacturers, events like these not only help manufacturing companies learn about GENEDGE—they also help GENEDGE develop the right tools and resources to better serve and support its members.

Randy Thomas, Owner, The Vanguard, and GENEDGE client Bill Cumbie, CEO, Pancopia, spoke at the Hampton Roadshow; Thomas A. O’Grady, Senior Project Development Manager, Hampton Economic Development, and Christopher R. Tillett, Business Development Manager (pictured) also gave remarks at the event.

Some key takeaways from the Hampton Roadshow include:

Passion - The dedication of time, resources, and skills to stay the course and grow is etched into everything that Commonwealth manufacturers do.

Capital Access - Attaining capital when needed to continue growing, funding innovation and technology, and staying competitive is essential for VA manufacturers.

Resources - Workforce development, supply chain resources, and additional tools help pivot when redirection is needed.
