ProAmpac Acquires UP Paper Mill
ProAmpac announced the acquisition of UP Paper, a leading producer of 100% unbleached recycled kraft paper for packaging applications located in Manistique, Michigan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to ProAmpac, UP Paper and ProAmpac, together will leverage combined fiber and film-based materials science expertise to create environmentally friendly flexible packaging products.

Billerud sells Wis. Rapids mill
An investment group has purchased the idled Billerud Wisconsin Rapids mill and associated assets. The mill site consists of 1,400 acres of land, one million square feet of building space, and over a mile of river frontage.
The investment group will market paper machines and other operating equipment while searching for potential operational users. In tandem, a three-day public auction will be April 23-25 to sell spares inventory, maintenance equipment, rolling stock, and more.

Converting, Coating & Sustainability Event April 17
Northeast Wisconsin is called the Converting Corridor of the United States and an extension of our paper industry. We estimate over 300 Converting companies are in the state. Green Bay will host the Converters Expo at Lambeau Field on April 18 for about 600 people. As a lead-in to Converters Expo, GBIG will present an all-day event on April 17: Converting, Coating & Sustainability at Miron Construction, 1471 McMahon Dr. Neenah. The event begins with check-in from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and ends with networking from 3-4 p.m. Speakers represent converting, coating, laminating, film, flexo printing, packaging, paper, food and water.
