GASSP Newsletter

Letter from the President

Kevin Gaines

I hope this newsletter finds you all filled with excitement for the upcoming new school year. As educators and administrators, we hold the power to make a profound impact on the lives of our students, faculty, and communities every single day. Let's wake up each morning with the knowledge that our efforts are shaping the future and making a real difference.

It brings me immense joy to be serving as the President of GASSP this year. Having been a dedicated member for the last thirteen years, I cannot emphasize enough the positive influence this organization has had on my administrative career. Together, we have the opportunity to achieve greatness and create lasting change.

One of our primary objectives this year is to reach a membership goal of 1,400 members. With your invaluable support, I am confident we can easily attain this milestone. I encourage you to reach out to your middle schools and high schools within your districts to ensure they have sent in their institutional memberships. Additionally, connect with your administrative colleagues in neighboring districts and encourage them to join our ranks. Strength lies in numbers, and as we grow together, our impact will only strengthen.

If you ever need assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at kevin.gaines@hart.k12.ga.us. I am always here to support each and every one of you in any way possible.

Letter from

President-Elect

Dr. Josh Lowe

I have enjoyed the good fortune of being involved with the GASSP for many years. Throughout that time, I have grown from my initial membership to serving on the board and am now proud to be the president-elect of this terrific organization. When I initially joined, I was concerned if I would be able to be fully engaged in the organization along with the work I then did as an assistant principal. The opposite was true. I found that, like many things in life, I got out of my involvement what I put in. Over the course of time, I was able to participate in the aspiring principal cohort through the organization and eventually became the GASSP Assistant Principal of the Year. Much of this came from insight I gained through my collaboration with leaders from throughout my community and other leaders from various communities around Georgia.

As I presently serve as a principal, I have found that my active membership in GASSP to be even more valuable. From the relationships I have formed with leaders in Georgia, to the professional learning opportunities I have been blessed to participate in, I can honestly say that GASSP has been a wonderful organization to be involved in. Education is a relationship business and as a public school educator, I realize more than ever that we are the last line of defense for many of our students. I challenge you to get connected as we work together to shape the future of our great state and our nation, one student at a time. As we do, we must focus on the good, each and every day. If I can ever be of service, please do not hesitate letting me know.
