Letter from the President

Dr. Chad Stone

It is a GREAT DAY to be a school leader. As the President of GASSP, I want to thank you for all you do for our students in the state of Georgia. Our AP conference in March was a huge success. Thank you to all that made this great learning opportunity happen for our leaders.  As you read this newsletter, most of us will be or soon will be enjoying Spring Break and Easter Break. Please take time to thank the people who have made a difference in your life and made you Better Today Than Yesterday. Enjoy a little break before the mad rush toward graduation starts and Happy Easter to everyone.

To be a great leader, we have to value our time. Time is our most valuable possession. We need to use it everyday to build positive relationships with our family, friends, and school staff. Each person is given 24 hours every day to make our world a better place. Use your time wisely! Do things each day that will make others around you Better Today Than Yesterday.

Go ahead and mark your calendar for November 2023 to join us for an incredible fall conference in Savannah. It will be a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow leaders as we all learn and grow professionally. We are in the learning business, so we need to model ways to continue to learn and grow daily. In addition to planning for our fall conference, I hope to see everyone at the Summer GAEL conference. Summer GAEL will be at the beach! Plan to attend the conference this July. During the conference we will get to learn, network, and have a little down time before we start the 2023-2024 school year. Also Summer GAEL is when our new leadership is sworn into office. I am so excited to be able to pass the leadership torch over this summer to Dr. Elizabeth Bennett as our new President. Dr. Bennett will definitely make our great organization Better Today Than Yesterday!

The goal of any organization is improvement, and membership is the key to success for our organization. Now is the time to make plans to send in your institutional membership dues for the 2023-2024 school year. Our executive board has voted to make the dues easy and simple for all schools. For a bargain price of $350.00 your school will be a member of GASSP. This price includes all leadership roles in your school. Please join today and High School principals please join for your middle schools.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or your district representative with any question, concern, or suggestion you may have. We are here to serve you as you lead the middle or high school in your community.

Being a member of GASSP makes us all Better Today Than Yesterday!

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NOTES:

Hello GASSP Members!

I want to personally Thank you for being a member of GASSP this year and all of the past years of membership. We had over 1,100 members this year and our goal for next year is 1,350. Remember there is strength in numbers when we go to the Capitol and when our membership is strong our voice is loud!

We will be starting our new membership drive on April 10 and you will be receiving , via email and mail, your renewal form for your school institutional and individual membership. We have clarified the Institutional Membership now and in the future by giving every school the opportunity to pay one $350.00 fee for the entire administration of the school. No more 20dollar fees for additional AP’s or instructional coaches, one fee pays for everyone. All you have to do is list all the names and emails of the school admin staff. Remember to join your Athletic Directors and Instructional Coaches also.

We look forward to seeing you at Summer Gael and SAVE THE DATE, November 13-14 in Savannah for the GASSP Fall Conference! Great opportunity to network with school leaders and recharge.

Congratulations to Dr. Chad Stone-High School Principal of the Year and Dr. Suzan Harris, Middle School Principal of the Year for 2023-2024!

Have a great finish of the school year!

Alan
