GASSP Newsletter

Letter from the President

Dr. Chad Stone

It is a GREAT DAY to be a school leader. As the President of GASSP, I want to thank you for all you do for our students in the state of Georgia. As you read this newsletter, most of us will be enjoying Christmas break. During the Christmas season, please remember why we celebrate this season. Please take time to thank the people who have made a difference in your life and made you Better Today Than Yesterday. Enjoy the season and a little break before starting the second semester of the 2022-2023 school year.

To be a great leader, we have to value our time. Time is our most valuable possession. We need to use it everyday to build positive relationships with our family, friends, and school staff. Each person is given 24 hours every day to make our world a better place. Use your time wisely! Do things each day that will make others around you Better Today Than Yesterday.

Thank you to all who joined us at our fall conference. This conference made each of us Better Today Than Yesterday!. Mark your calendar for November 2023 to join us for an incredible fall conference in Savannah. It will be a wonderful opportunity to come together with fellow leaders as we all learn and grow professionally. We are in the learning business, so we need to model ways to continue to learn and grow daily. In addition to planning for our fall conference, I hope to see everyone at the Winter GAEL conference. Winter GAEL will be in the great city of Athens! Go Dawgs!! The conference starts on January 22nd and ends on January 24th. Please register and join us for a great leadership building conference.

The goal of any organization is improvement, and membership is the key to success for our organization. As I write this letter, we have over 1100 members - GREAT JOB meeting our goal of 1000 members.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or your district representative with any question, concern, or suggestion you may have. We are here to serve you as you lead the middle or high school in your community.

Being a member of GASSP makes us all Better Today Than Yesterday!

Letter from Secretary/Treasurer

Dr Jason Carter

I am proud to serve as the current secretary and treasurer for GASSP. I have been participating in GASSP events/leadership since 2006. My former principal Alan Long encouraged me to get involved when I first became an assistant principal. It was not until I attended the GASSP Fall Conference that I really understood the power of the connections I could have through my membership. It was another avenue to steal ideas, find resources, and collaborate with colleagues from across the state. Once I became a principal I was granted the opportunity to be on the board of directors. Leading a district for GASSP afforded more opportunities to make connections, and friends who share the same struggles. More than ever as administrators in Georgia we need to have a voice with our representatives under the gold dome. The power comes in numbers, and those numbers are our members. I encourage you to renew, revisit, and re-charge with your membership in GASSP. We are an organization on the move with new leaders, a new vision, and a passion for administrators in Georgia. If you have not already, please sign up for winter GAEL in Athens. I hope to see everyone at either Winter GAEL or bring the family down to Jekyll Island to Summer GAEL. May you all find rest, peace, and time with family over the holidays.

Take care,

Dr. Jason Carter
