GACC NY welcomes back members, friends at September in-person event
After 18 months of virtual meetings, we were thrilled to gather in-person again at our GACC Summer in the City Gala at the sleek Tribeca Rooftop. Guests filled the building's rooftop for a night of laughter, conversation and great food and, of course, stunning views!

We're delighted over all the positive feedback we've received from guests who attended the event. They truly appreciated having the opportunity to socialize again with an extended group of people in a safe and inviting environment.

A big thank to our members, partners and sponsors for your support to further grow German American Business.
Reeperbahn Festival Conference connects music industry experts, execs, stakeholders
US executives, multipliers and buyers from the recorded music industry were virtually engaging in Europe's largest club festival: Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg, last week from Sep. 21-24, 2021.

The GACC NY hosted a US-delegation of eight participants who virtually connected with German stakeholders and experts in the music industry for an in-depth look into live events, marketing, artist management, music tech and international collaboration opportunities. After traveling to Reeperbahn Festival with a US delegation in person in 2019, the GACC NY has now hosted this program virtually for the second time.

The program included digital access to selected highlights of the Reeperbahn Festival & Conference, networking opportunities, a roundtable discussion, individual matchmaking, the opportunity to present in front of an international audience and receiving an overview about Germany’s entertainment market.

This project was part of the Market Entry Program for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

Initiatives with the entertainment and creative industries sector have been facilitated by the GACC NY since 2017, with inbound and outbound delegations representing both US and German companies.
Virtual German American forum on smart grids and energy storage
During the week of October 25, the German American Chamber of Commerce is hosting a virtual delegation for German companies in the smart grid and energy storage sectors. This program is sponsored by the Export Initiative "Energy Solutions - Made in Germany" of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.

On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, a virtual conference will take place offering an opportunity for experts from Germany and local US innovators to discuss ways to cooperate. The increased usage of renewable energies in our economies leads to a number of important challenges. The event will focus on technologies and solutions in the fields of smart grids and energy storage.

As part of the forum, a German delegation will present their latest solutions, technologies and services. Germany has been known for decades as a leader in renewable energy technologies. The event targets professionals, researchers and thought leaders in the fields of smart grids, energy storage and renewable energy in general. Further information and registration here.
Pennsylvania awards GACC Pittsburgh more than $400K for dual apprenticeship program
Continuing his commitment to investing in job training, Governor Tom Wolf announced last week that a program created by his administration has awarded nearly $440,000 for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the German American Chamber of Commerce’s (GACC) Dual Apprenticeship Program. The Pre-Apprentice and Apprenticeship Grant Program, housed at the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), helps employers develop speciated training for their workers to close the skills gap and provide career opportunities for students and adults.

The project received $439,999 in funding which will enable GACC to better serve 18 of its current registered apprentices and to continue to grow the program to serve 49 additional apprentices during the three-year project period. All Dual Apprenticeship Program registered apprentices earn industry-recognized credentials.

“Pennsylvania businesses are looking to hire, and they need skilled employees, which create great opportunities for workers and their families,” said Gov. Wolf.

Dr. Schar expands New Jersey facility to meet US market growth
Ten years ago on September 10th, Dr. Schar added another chapter to the company’s history when eight employees, shovels in hand, broke ground on a New Jersey gluten-free bread production site. On the anniversary of that date, this month Dr. Schar again broke ground on an exciting new expansion that will support its ability to meet robust growth and demand.

At this year’s ceremony, CEO Hannes Berger shared that Dr. Schar, a European-American producer of fine gluten-free snacks and breads, has grown over the past decade to 115 US employees, including their mechatronics apprentice, who is training to the German dual-education standard under the sponsorship of the German American Chamber of Commerce. Today, Dr. Schar's products are available in major grocery chains all across the country.
