Virtual German American forum on smart grids and energy storage
|
|
The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. hosted a German delegation from October 25-29 from the Smart Grids & Energy Storage sector. As part of the program, a Virtual German American Forum on Smart Grids and Energy Storage took place on Oct 26 with over 80 attendees in the audience.
The conference provided an opportunity for experts from Germany and local US innovators to discuss ways to cooperate and included presentations from the German delegation as well as New York Power Authority, New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST), University of Wuppertal and the Germany Energy Storage Association.
Besides the symposium, the GACC NY organized over 60 individual meetings with US counterparts for the German participants as well as site-visits at Brooklyn’s NewLab and other destinations.

German Ambassador to the US Emily Haber at upcoming apprenticeship conference

One of the key missions of the GACC is to promote apprenticeship programs for both American and German companies in the US. This upcoming conference will address several issues, including:
- Long-term workforce development strategies
- Cooperation of community colleges, employers and intermediaries
- Green cross-sector apprenticeships for a sustainable future
Ambassador Emily Haber will also be on hand to present the award for GACC Apprentice of the Year 2021.

The Leo Baeck Institute – New York | Berlin (LBI) will host its annual dinner in NYC on Thursday, November 18, 2021, when LBI President Dr. David G. Marwell will present German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier with the Leo Baeck Medal, LBI’s highest honor. Philanthropist and business leader Ambassador Ronald S. Lauder will also make remarks.
The GACC NY is a dedicated supporter LBI's noble mission to preserve and advance the understanding of the history of Jewish life in German-speaking lands.

Deutsche Hospitality and the Porsche Design Group launch a unique hotel concept

Our GACC NY member Deutsche Hospitality recently announced that Porsche Design Group and Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts will create a joint hotel brand. Dr. Jan Becker of Porsche Design and Marcus Bernhardt of Steigenberger Hotels signed the collaborative agreement at the iconic Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof.
