GACC NY members celebrate & connect at virtual fall reunion event!
|
|
Not to be deterred by the upheaval the pandemic has wrought, the GACC NY continued its longstanding tradition of ringing in the holiday season with a popular fall gala this week.
This time the occasion was an opportunity for GACC NY members, friends and other stakeholders to meet for an evening of entertainment, reconnecting and networking during a virtual event themed Celebrate Fall Reunion.
More than 100 participants logged on to a virtual platform where dedicated tables for sponsors and their guests, along with non-sponsored tables, were visible on computer screens. Guests were able to chat face-to-face with the people at their table or switch tables for group or one-to-one conversations.
GACC NY President & CEO Dietmar Rieg joined Chairman & CEO of IFF Andreas Fibig in welcoming the guests and thanking our sponsors for their dedicated support. Special greetings also were provided by David Gill, General Consul German Consulate New York.
Rieg and Fibig stressed how this event was another example of what the GACC is so adept at doing: creating unique, entertaining, engaging and relevant new ways for the benefit of our members. They touched on some of the highlights the GACC NY accomplished during this pandemic year, including: three virtual STEP USA delegations six virtual delegations by the consulting department and over 40 additional virtual events with more than 2,000 guests to date. On top of all that, the chamber has welcomed 36 new members.
The night included industry insights from Susanne Witte Settineri, President of Carl Brandt, Inc. and Hannes Berger CEO & President of Dr. Schär North America. Three of our successful STEP startups - Tim Wegner of Workist, Naomi Owusu of Tickaroo and Valentine Gesche of Pergraft - provided updates on how their businesses continue to thrive.
Between the presentations guests were serenaded by songs from Eleanor Dubinsky and guitarist Dario Acosta. They even performed a jingle especially created for the GACC NY!
Following the formal program, guests proceeded to the virtual room of tables for more celebrating and networking.

GACC NY launches podcast series
featuring interviews with our members!
|
|
We’re excited about the launch of our exclusive new podcast - Biz Kaffee! It was developed in collaboration with the dynamic communications and marketing company, ServicePlan, which we’re glad to say is also one of our members. They were founded in Munich, but continue to expand globally, including here in the US.
The podcast is specifically created for our chamber. It features a series of casual conversations with the heads of companies in the German-American business community. They will talk about how their business strategies and corporate cultures were adapted to achieve success for their companies in the US. They also share their personal insights on what it takes to make it in this highly competitive market.
Check out our first few episodes featuring Uwe Schafly, CEO of Bäumer of America, and Susanne Witte Settineri, President of Carl Brandt, Inc.
We hope you like what you hear and that it whets your appetite for the Biz Kaffee interviews to come. If any of you are interested, we’d love to include you in a future Biz Kaffee session!

Virtual delegation program a success

The GACC NY successfully hosted a virtual delegation for five startups and established companies from North-Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) from November 9-13, 2020, partnering with IHK Düsseldorf and NRW.Global Business GmbH.
The two-hour virtual conference, part of a delegation program focusing on tech & innovation in New York, was attended by approx. 70 guests and featured a keynote speaker from NYCEDC, as well as an innovation-focused panel comprised of Google, GIANT Innovation and NYC Small Business Services.

Trade shows have been hit hard in these Corona Virus times. All shows in Germany have been either cancelled or postponed, prohibiting meetings or deals that may otherwise have been concluded.
With this in mind, we’d like to offer you another means to connect with potential clients. Messe Munich has an online program called Trusted Targeting. It allows you to target your potential clients and get your name and products in front them without leaving your home office. You need not be a client of Messe Munich, it is offered to EVERYONE.
- Trusted Targeting can be used in various ways.
- Lead Generation
- Cross industry testing (how popular is your product among other sectors of your industry?)
- Building brand awareness
- Trade Show preparation (maybe not relevant right now, but for future use)
