German American Business Outlook 2021
German companies in the US remain profitable despite COVID-19
German companies continue to remain overwhelmingly optimistic about their business prospects in the US, expecting further growth and robust profit margins. All this despite the daunting challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s the key finding of this year's German American Business Outlook (GABO).

More than 200 GACC members and other representatives of the German-American business community logged on for our virtual presentation of the survey results. Andreas Fibig Chairman & CEO of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) welcomed the guests and acknowledged the GACC sponsors whose support make the event so successful.

The survey results were tabulated by KPMG Germany and presented by Andreas Glunz, Managing Partner International Business, KPMG Germany. Prior to Mr. Glunz's presentation, Matthew Luzzetti Chief US Economist and Head of US Economic Research at Deutsche Bank in New York provided insights on the US economy.

The program included a panel discussion on the implications of the survey results. The panel was comprised of business leaders in the German-American business community:
  • Antonis Papadourakis | CEO at Lanxess,
  • Peter Riehle | President and CEO of WITTENSTEIN holding Corp.
  • Crispin Teufel | Chief Executive Officer at Lincare Holdings, Inc.

Katrin Zimmermann, Managing Director, The Americas, TLGG moderated the panel.

The report received extensive media coverage as well. Including to date: Handelsblatt, Börsen-Zeitung,dpa/AFX-Line und WZ Westdeutsche Zeitung Düsseldorf.

GABO events were also organized by the GACC Philadelphia and in Boston, where the GACC partnered with the German American Business Council (GABC) to present the survey results. Consul General Nicole Menzenbach of the German Consulate General Boston was among the many noteworthy guests at the Boston GABO forum.

Our Insights on Corporate Culture forum featured candid discussions on what can and should be done to ensure a trusted work environment and productive workplace as the rules of engagement have been upended by the pandemic.

The forum featured experts representing large and small German businesses in the US:
  • Heather L. Morgado, Associate Director U.S. Diversity, Inclusion, Culture & Equity, Boehringer Ingelheim, Inc.
  • Ingrid Astudillo, Director Human Resources, Miele

Trade Fairs
Connect with Prospects
Trade shows have been hit hard in these Corona Virus times. All shows in Germany have been either cancelled or postponed, prohibiting meetings or deals that may otherwise have been concluded.

With this in mind, we’d like to offer you another means to connect with potential clients. Messe Munich has an online program called Trusted Targeting. It allows you to target your potential clients and get your name and products in front them without leaving your home office. You need not be a client of Messe Munich, it is offered to EVERYONE.

  • Trusted Targeting can be used in various ways.
  • Lead Generation
  • Cross industry testing (how popular is your product among other sectors of your industry?)
  • Building brand awareness
  • Trade Show preparation (maybe not relevant right now, but for future use)

For more information on these shows or any other ones that Munich organizes, feel free to contact kvogelsang@tssworldwide.com
