GACC NY forum spotlights latest developments in energy efficiency in buildings
From January 24-28, 2022, the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. hosted a virtual German delegation focused on energy efficiency in buildings. The group consisted of six innovative German companies spanning the full spectrum from heating, lighting, façade solutions, engineering services, and more.

As part of the program, GACC New York organized the virtual German American Smart Buildings Symposium on January 25 with over 110 participants in the audience. The conference offered an opportunity for experts from Germany and local US innovators to discuss ways to cooperate and knowledge transfer.

The audience heard from expert speakers from both sides of the Atlantic, and the German delegation presented their latest products and solutions. All presentations are available here. During the delegation week, the German companies participated in over 60 individual meetings with potential US business partners to discuss their market entry and expansion. The program was sponsored by the German Export Initiative for Energy Solutions.
UN procurement....
German companies seeking to establish business opportunities with the UN were offered a valuable platform to do so at last week’s UN Procurement Seminar hosted by the GACC NY and the German Mission to the UN. The two-day event took place virtually with approximately 90 registered participants from various German industries as well as four UN agencies: UNPD, UNDP, UNOPS and UNICEF. The seminar also was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Aside from various presentations and workshops on topics ranging from Overview with the UN, to Business Opportunities with the World Bank to Tender Process, the participating German companies were able to join an exclusive, one-hour virtual tour of UN headquarters in New York City.

Presenters included: Neris M. Baez Garcia de Mazzora, Director UN Procurement Division; Adenike Akoh, UN Development Programme; Mario Fleschler of the UN Children’s Fund and Sylvia Owor of the UN Office for Project Services. Additional speakers included representatives from Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce (DGIC).
Our colleagues at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Washington, DC are hosting a webinar, “Education from a US and an International Development Perspective” on February 23-24, which will cover updates in President Biden's educational agenda, the role of community colleges, and the skilled workforce. This event is being conducted in partnership with Worlddidac, the global trade association for the education industry.
