Description:

This workshop is designed to provide introductory concepts of the Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual theoretical perspective of SUDs.  The Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual model provides a holistic view of the etiology and pathology of SUDs.


Learning objectives: 

1. Provide a comprehensive view of SUD

2. Develop an understanding of Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual factors contributing to SUD.

3. Inform Assessment and Treatment of SUD.



Presenter:  Russell Proctor, LMSW, CAC II, CCS, LADAC, QCS


Russell graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology: Addiction & Recovery, in 2019, and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with his Master’s in Social Work. 


Russell has worked full time in the substance abuse counseling field since 2007, gaining experience in a variety of settings in the continuum of care for substance abuse treatment. Russell specializes is Christian-Based treatment for SUD’s. 


His personal experience with addiction and recovery, combined with years of counselor training and formal education have equipped Russell with empathy, clinical skills, and professionalism for his calling to serve in the substance abuse counseling field. 


Russell enjoys anything outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Georgia Addiction Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7302. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Georgia Addiction Counselors Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.

Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) is a non-profit member association that provides credentialing, training, education, advocacy and support for addiction-focused professionals in Georgia and surrounding states. Founded in 1980, GACA is a statewide association for addiction counselors and other professionals interested in addiction, prevention, treatment and recovery.
