College Readiness Team (4-Year Plans)

• The team spoke about both student and family difficulties surrounding financial aid applications. The 10KD team shared about the successful “Submit Days” they had at Novato High School where students came in and worked 1:1 with a counselor to work on financial aid and check for submission. They were able to meet with 240 students. Novato High School is able to do so well because everyone is involved in their financial aid process and counselors received training from 10KD on financial aid. 10KD shared their hope to partner with Canal Alliance and other organizations, including tax preparers, to plan for next year and support families getting valid identification and doing their taxes. So far, there has been a 40% drop in students filling out FAFSA applications nationwide.

• The team had a presentation from Chris Funk, the Superintendent of Dublin Unified School District, who shared his experience being a part of two districts (San Jose Unified School District and East Side Union High School District) that switched to Default A-G Curriculum.
